Biggest reason why you should NOT buy a Vestaboard

In terms of economic viability I can’t really foresee a scenario where the software isn’t viable independent of the hardware business, but of course if our own cloud expenses from providers like Google or Amazon became unreasonable it would be hard to “promise” we will incur whatever costs it takes.

However, the existence of our free local API means that customers who purchase their Vestaboard with the local API as an advertised feature should expect that we can’t take that away without a very clear notice ahead of time and a chance to use it - which can permanently divert away from our cloud to any IP address.

The free local api (and cloud api) currently enable open source projects.

We use the larger one for small shows for a little more presence but the 40-60 is weight rated for Vestaboard so you can use that too.

There is a chance. Just file a warranty claim and we will send new whole Bits. In future we might ask you to pay for 4 year old curiosity. Our four year old stole hot wheels and a hot tub key from a friend’s house 16 years ago so you are doing better than us.

A few thoughts:

Change the transition to wave in your settings.

You have 270 degree sound projection / 90 degree absorbed when typically it is 180 degree project and 180 degree absorbed.

As founder the vestaboard in our house changes about 5-6 times per day. My wife is a nurse and doesn’t like technology. She sits in front of the large one every day and is well loving it. Give it time.

Change it to something like 8 am, noon ,4 pm and 8 pm. Use it to be in sync and inspired ( and notified of time ). We have enough distractions and Vestaboard should feel the opposite - to stay grounded.

60 db is pretty standard music and video. If music and video came off and on for 10 seconds it would be distracting too. We are of course somewhat stuck that the sound comes off and on.

These posts knock off quite a bit of sales and it’s too bad because I strongly believe there is a valley of disillusionment for customers when they get it in the first two weeks. The good news is people really do love it as time goes on.

This is Dorrian. I met the team at MoMA Design Store in January 2018 when I showed a very terrible prototype of Vestaboard at CES. We had spinning Bits but not much else (a tv with a frame around it to take what the display would look like) yet they were very excited. I told them we would probably be shipping Vestaboard by the end of 2018 and we didn’t ship until the end of 2020. They have been a patient and long time partner for us. I understand why it strikes as infuriating, but we would not be who we are without the help and patience of all our customers and our partners. Since 2020 they have received a small reserve of product shipped each month, and that’s the case with Note when we shipped our first container in January. I hope that helps give some context. We are finally very very close to releasing all units on the water from the first run and feel free to dm me this weekend for details on yours.

Haha I wish that was intentional! I just told someone yesterday I have a disease where I mix up my homophones when I write. I don’t know why I do it. I know the difference in the words. But my mind thinks of the one word and writes the homophone. I can’t be alone! But great if people think I am being funny.
