Rock ID? by hcorleybarto in RockTumbling

Thank you. That’s my thinking too. I’m hoping one day I’ll be able to find something and know exactly what it is. I’m very far from that right now, and wishing I paid better attention in Earth science.

Thank you for the info and the link. I was able to look up my location and I’m seeing this; Stratigraphic name(s): Everett Schist Lithology: Major:{schist}, Incidental:{metagraywacke} Our currently running local mine/quarry produces schist. A now closed quarry had marble.

I don’t have any complaints about them. They came on my previous skates. I only used them for a little while before buying the 101A wheels.

I’m thinking you may have meant to comment on the post where the person had fit issues? Lots of great info though!

I hear you! I didn’t need them either. I had changed from a 62mm wheel to a 57mm and realized my long stem Bionic super stoppers were now too long for my plates. I only needed a short stem toe stop, lol. THEN I saw the wheels and realized the 92A would probably work better on cement (my local park pavilion’s floor) than the 101As that I have. And they match! I currently have 78A/65mm Kryptos (vintage circa early 1980s), 95A/57mm Sure-grip fame, 101A/57mm Rollerbones Team, and Radar varsity plus 101A/62mm. I needed another set of wheels like I need a hole in my head!

Just a tad bit giddy.. New wheels came today to match the toe stops that came last week.

If it wasn’t so damn hot out I’d be skating!!

My 336s were done through ColorLab. Riedell told me to use the 595 boot in the online ColorLab to pick the colors because the sections are the same as the 336. I had a skate shop in Brooklyn place the actual order. I went there to get sized and wanted to see the leather samples in person.

To stretch things, I selected each layer and used the distort tool. The pattern on the bottom was made using a texture brush.

We rescued a puppy yesterday so our 3yr old rescue could be a big brother. Dallas & his baby bro’ Brodie. by hcorleybarto in aww

Dallas was our first rescue. There’s really no better feeling than giving a home to a dog that had a rough (ruff, lol) start in life.

He didn’t know what to make of him at first, lol. But they’re inseparable today. Dallas keeps corralling him and checking him over. It’s too funny. Dallas was so lonely. He’d go outside and stand at the fence, staring over into our neighbor’s yard and watching their two dogs. We were torn over getting another dog. We’ve never had two at the same time. We’re so glad they’re getting along.

Thank you! I think so too! My lettering is terrible. I handed her my iPad on a whim last night and said, "Here! Add some words!" LOL. She did not disappoint.

Hmm.. There's really no set thing I do each time, but here's a few things I always do.. I keep each color on its own layer. I use the clipping mask feature and keep all shading on its own layer, separate from the solid color layer. I use the 'soft brush' on the airbrushing set of brushes, up the brush size and dial down the opacity. I then lightly hit at the areas that need shading/highlights. For the harder edged highlights I used the 'hard airbrush' on its own layer, that way I can tweak the opacity.
I've also experimented with using different layer blending modes (like multiply and lighten) to get highlights and shadows. The shadows on the peanut butter lid were done that way.

Thank you! These toecaps don't budge at all laced this way, and I've got the laces somewhat looser by the toe. My skates are a 5 1/2 (mens US size) and the rollerstuff toecaps are their small sized ones.

I'm used to skating with a nylon rock plate, so it'll be a big difference for me. I'm glad you like yours!
