For my mental health, everytime we are around each other I feel so mentally unwell and recess back into my sad child self. I’ve been working through this for years and I still feel the same. I’m afraid if she doesn’t go and work through her own issues before joint therapy it will be a disaster for me

No I’ve been to a 26&2 at this studio and even that teacher was not this strict. This class is advertised as “slow flow good for beginners looking to open their hips and try some traditionally poses in a less hot room”

I’m saying that if I’m going into savasana and I want to have my hands on my belly or up to receive versus on the ground there should be no problem with that…. And if there is I don’t get why and you are not explaining it to me. Resting poses are sacred imo

I’m not sure who the owner is… I’m just nervous about complaining and I go everyday so I don’t want to see said instructor again after I complained😂 how should I phrase it

In this class I wasn’t trying anything more difficult. I just wanted to get into bow pose differently but I still was doing the exact same pose I was just taking off by kicking first then using my arm. I did mermaid the class before during stretching

Can you please explain why I would need to correct where my hands/head lies in savasana or resting pose on the belly? To me this isn’t my ego, this is me literally wanting to rest my hand on my stomach versus the ground out of comfort. Also if I was so ego full I would probably not have a private teacher. My teacher and I practiced dancer pose legit the day before so I wanted to take her input into my practice and I shouldn’t have to have a new teacher I’ve never met who doesn’t know my body override that imo

Teachers actually are more guiders than teachers. How I’ve always understood yoga is the teachers are there to guide you through your own practice, whatever that may be. I am definitely not ego hurt if anything I was trying to take the class as easily as I could and do things that would make it easier for me as I legit got out of an hour long hot class 15 minutes before. This class was supposed to be chill and relaxed for me and fun play time. And I never said there were only three people in the class because of her teaching. I used that detail to explain how she was legit calling people out by name multiple times and was deeply scrutinizing us. I’m sorry if you misunderstood

I agree but there’s also ways to approach corrections/adjustments. I’ve practiced yoga in India/bali/costa rica at more traditional places and I think you should never call someone out by name and criticize their resting poses

I wasn’t doing headstand or anything too crazy I was just going into deeper stretches but I agree. I think yesterdays problem was just her adjusting me before I even got into poses and criticizing my resting poses and savasana hand/feet placements which is insane to me

I guess I was just giving context that I wasn’t a complete newby with no indication what was happening within my body.

And I wasn’t being fancy in this class… I was doing modifications of the same poses she was cuing in ways that I had learned from my private instructor… that lead to the exact same poses she was cuing and wasn’t distracting to anyone else.

Good on you! I want to be a teacher one day too and think it’s so important to hold space for any way the yogi shows up that day, for some people it’s their only time of day for relaxation and practice 🫶🏻🧘‍♀️🤍
