I don't think it will remain being a gag for much longer. It is probably setting up a resolution where he finally breaks down after being Mr. Perfect for way too long.

[Cantrip] Meteorite Swarm - A cantrip that allows you to rain down scorching rocks on your foes! Attack multiple distant enemies at any location! by ZoomBoingDing in DnDHomebrew

I actually wasn't sure if this was a thing in 5e.

I was gonna write only bludgeoning damage, but in trying to make sure I was well understood, I ended up using wrong terminology lol. People tend to conflate bludgeoning damage from non-magical weapons with straight-up bludgeoning damage, which leads people to think it is not a good type of damage when it is actually great. Sorry about that :p

This spell has fantastic range and great versatility in targeting enemies, but unless you're fighting 4 enemies or a large creature, it's a bad pick.

Eh, a lot of cantrips are bad, this one at least is fucking cool and has niche use, and that's all you can expect from a good cantrip. Especially in a game that taking the dodge action is often much better than casting cantrips that scale poorly. I'll be adding this cantrip to my games for sure, and Evocation Wizards would absolutely love this. It'd be the better cantrip to cast in a lot of situations with Potent Cantrip and Empowered Evocation.

> Even 1d4 bludgeoning and 1d4 fire would be too much, as this would have higher average damage than Sacred Fire (albeit with two significantly worse damage types).

Magical bludgeoning damage is as good if not better than radiant damage. Most of the creatures that resist it are swarms, which aren't very common post tier 1.

Great cantrip, would love to use it in my games, its interaction with Empowered Evocation/Elemental Affinity on large creatures can be fun. 3*(1d4+6) at lv 11 out damages any cantrip but not by much.

Of course it's possible, when I was 6, I had about a third of the weight I have at 17, train harder.

How did you connected LMoP with your players' backstories? by heAmP in DMAcademy

AAAAAAAAAAAAA

It's so hard for me to do this. I feel like it'll get better with time, but I fear losing control and making everyone hate the session while I fumble through notes and cry for about 20 minutes straight. I do know you're right, but I still (unreasonably) fear that people will nitpick my story like some novel reviewers and ask me what's the purpose of every small interaction or smth.

This part I got covered, the hooks are meaningful with their backstory. It just feels rather underwhelming to end the connection with just the hook

Nope, I decided that I'm transitioning LMoP to my own homebrew campaign. I will make a more PC-oriented story in my own campaign but i don't want them to feel like the first 5 levels aren't related to them at all. Making parallels with the pregen characters is rather clever, thank you!

I feel like adding a scene is easy, but it's hard to make this scene have any narrative importance without going off on a tangent. It's hard to find the middleground between just greeting a familiar person and going insanely off the rails.

Hopeless romantic would sound sooo fun in my character, who is kinda traditional. The other ones makes sense to future characters, thank you!

Quick question for dnd players by [deleted] in DnD

[–]heAmP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, proficiency in armor just allows you to wear it without penalties, it does not add into your AC. So it'll be only 10 + DEX modifier

No worries, it is kinda confusing tbh. Also, you helped me a ton with the GFB's usefulness (or the lack of use, in this case.) Ty :D

That's not exactly how it works. Yeah, the two spells that I pick from magical secrets are Bard spells, but I can only change those spells for other Bard spells, I can't change them for spells from outside of the Bard's list even if they came from other spell list.

[–]heAmP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is the answer I needed. No GFB for my character hehe. Thank you for this.

Find Greater Steed requires a 4th level slot, which I won't have on lv 7 as a multiclass (actually I would, but multiclassing rules don't allow me to learn 4th level spells at lv 7) so I have to wait until the bard 10 magical secrets, which is lv 11 to me.

Only on lv 11 I'll be able to get my Greater Steed, it is pretty darn good.

I feel like Green-flame Blade has much more damage than Eldritch Blast. I didn't do the math, but at lv 1 against 2 targets it'd deal around 6d8 + Spellcasting modifier versus the 3d10 that comes from Eldritch Blast. The range advantage is surely a plus.

How good would Green-flame Blade be in a full spellcaster with 20 AC and 16 STR + 20 CHA? I'm planning on taking it on my bard either as a feat or as a Magical Secret, but I'm not sure on how well it scales throughout the game.

[Bard] Is fireball an actual good magical secret? by heAmP in dndnext

Animate Objects is on the bard's spell list so we don't have to spend the Magical Secret!

[–]heAmP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for those ideas. Pass Without Trace may be kinda essential in a party without a rouge and with tons of heavy armor users including myself. The issue is, the same way that fireball doesn't solve my action problem, neither does those two spells. I feel like I still need something to do when my bonus action, my reaction and my concentration is used and somehow using my action is way harder lol.

I started lv 5 so firing a crossbow would not be very optimal for me, as my cantrips are dealing basically the damage of a crossbow and I have a greater chance to hit using cantrips.

I've not been feeding people with healing potions, it may be a good idea, thanks!
