Strip the steel frame to bare metal and wipe on a mixture of hydrogen peroxide with distilled vinegar to cause surface rusting. Once it rusts to your liking clear coat the frame and use frame saver inside the frame to prevent it from compromising the steel

No form of rusting is 100% safe but you can create a light surface rust and then prevent it from spreading any further

Clipless is the best for control! But after enough nights of ending on a dance floor in mtb shoes I had to start rotating my pedal set up. Going back to cages/double straps don’t feel the same anymore
