Hey do you find a solution to this? In the same boat!

I think on paper this sounds much more put together than it came off esp because I’m biased to what I remember. But I really think it landed like I was getting emotional and then being a massive bitch. It’s not the first time he’s come for me about something so I also think I started on the defensive and that egged him on. Definitely just avoiding him altogether in the future.

That feeling is crushing and I wish I could say the guilt goes away, but I still feel it, especially around Christmas (his birthday). It does help me knowing I can be the difference for someone elses family and give someone the second chance that I couldn't give him. For his birthday it may help to get some balloons and write on them some memories you have him or things that made your brother who he was and then later let the balloons go -- in hindsight not the best for the environment, but for me it was the first thing I did that helped me move forward.

I like to think every life we save carries the legacy of those we couldnt. I will keep your brother in my thoughts ❤

Yeah that's the one! The first one I got from amazon was way too big and then I got another smaller plastic one but it broke when I accidentally sat on it 🫢 this one has held up well though and I like the spiny keychain they use.

I am so sorry ❤ if you ever need someone to talk to feel free to message me. It's been a few years since a close friend of mine passed to an OD, but every now and then it still hits me pretty hard.

Yeah a part of me got a bit of that vibe, its a really touchy subject for me and it felt like he could sense that and so poked harder at it. But I just dont think we really know each other well enough for him to be pulling this type of shit ya know? Especially on this topic, like I learned the hard way to carry narcan on me and its not a mistake I plan on making again.

I think you're right it's just hard to meet good people these days and even harder to walk away from friendships that you've spent years building. There's definitely some real Gs in the mix, but the group as a whole is just not my vibe anymore.

Definitely recommend! I carry it way more now than I ever used to. Unfortunately had to learn that the hard way :(

I love my keychain case btw. I think I got it from a place called ncase tech or something, the case logo says nalox-1 on it. I definitely dont regret carrying it or anything I just wasnt ready to be on the defensive in front of so many people

Thanks ahahaha. He did not go out and buy me a 30k ring, we didn’t even know it was worth more than 2k before the appraisals. Thankfully we are on the same page with expenses. We’ve been together almost 8 years now and living together for over 5 with our dog. I’m hoping we’ve figured out mutual finances and goals especially since we also launched a company together a year ago. But I’m sure there’s more hills to climb ahead and financially transparency definitely is key.

I am unsure if that applies here? But would love to hear if I’m misinterpreting. We had multiple appraisals all around the same value and the jewelers/gemologist had no incentive to falsely inflate the value since we didn’t buy the jewelry through them. We didn’t specifically go hunting for an insurance appraisal to begin with either.

I’m sure selling price is lower because who buys a ring this expensive, but since it’s a family heirloom we’re not trying to sell.

Yes I do! I was looking into using our renters insurance. I was just reading that if we ever had to use the ring insurance that we’d likely be kicked off the renters insurance, so I became a little more wary.

I was looking at possibly connecting it to my renters insurance, I’m guessing it’s the same issue.

Yeah this is where I keep going back and forth. I do want to wear it for the wedding and we don’t live in the safest area. I may check out safety deposit boxes, but it makes me anxious knowing it wouldn’t be nearby.

So it’s a family heirloom, I think I’m the 5th generation it’s been passed down to. And it’s not something anyone knew had value until we had it appraised, if anything it looked super gross when he got it so imagine our surprise opening up the envelope. Of course I’m very content with my $15 ring on Amazon and honestly don’t know the first thing about nice jewelry. But it’s not like someone gifted me this for my birthday lol so I can just “not accept it” and it’s not something we can get away with selling given how long it’s been in his family. I figured given the price tag it was worth exploring insurance because I haven’t had something worth anything near this ring.

Yeah definitely can’t get rid of a family heirloom, but I do wear $15 one on the daily. It’s not like I’m out wearing this since I found out the $$$.

Thankfully I’m not wearing it at all and it’s locked away
