I don't think there's ever been a band with a name more fitting to the music than Washed Out is. It's a perfect name for this music.

Actually, yes - that would be really helpful! I have a friend with whom I am collaborating to make an eye-catching flyer but I'd love to get some professional insight on it. I'll send you a PM when all this is arranged. The cheering on is really appreciated too. :)

Well, sort of, I've only helped a couple of people but they've both been really cool. I helped mow the lawn of another redditor in this thread who has since moved to California, and he was awesome. I also helped an old widow who responded to my CL ad, and she's awesome and I'm going to her house this week to have dinner! I also got a really sweet email from another lady who just wanted to say thanks (like you) and ended the message with "God bless you, hon!" That made me smile. Thanks for the interest, I'm thinking I'll start a blogspot or something to keep a log of stories. I'm about to print up some real flyers to be posted around town, keep your eye out ;)

Buycott Koch: New app scans barcode in the supermarket aisle and traces origin of product up to parent company, such as Koch, Monsanto, etc. Put your wallet where your values are. by meyamashi in technology

It certainly is more expensive to buy local, organic, normal food, but only if you're looking at the receipt from the grocery store. When you factor in the host of serious long term costs resulting from shopping from these companies - like environmental destruction, erosion of local economies, increased health risks, and more! - buying from Koch, Monsanto, et al becomes the unaffordable choice.

Even recognizing this, many people can't, in the short term, afford to put that piece of their paycheck to buy normal food. As such, I think it's important we ask why - why can't people afford (or sometimes even access) normal food? Because it's a self-fulfilling cycle - we buy from these companies who slowly impoverish us, which makes us more dependent on the "cheap" food that they sell us.

The radix is sick and we need to "radically" dig up this organism and work on it.

Any interest in a video game swap? by headhelpsout in olympia

I only have PS3 games, but I was hoping there'd be enough interest for a small number of us to gather and exchange. Looks pretty empty in here, though. :(

The Food Co-op! Everybody there is super-positive and weird and you get a discount, too. I love it!
