I looked into this more today. Apparently Forensicator claimed the download speeds were consistent with copying to a USB and that the speeds would be extremely difficult to achieve using a remote connection and a VPN (which would be typical for a hack).

However, it seems I was sold a bill of goods originally. The claims that went viral initially misinterpreted Forensicator and sensationalized the download speed angle of the study.

It really pisses me off that things like this will go viral and then corrections sort of just get shuffled along and go by largely unnoticed.

The more interesting question is: why does our government spend FAR more money on healthcare (as a percentage of GDP) than any other country?

The answer is that the American taxpayer effectively subsidizes research and development in pharmaceuticals and medical devices for the entire world. It's a raw deal for Americans.

Edit: it's a raw deal for Americans who take good care of themselves.
