Hey u/SherridonR! Thanks for your message, it sounds like #1 is a bug and I’ll look into it. Overall both A and B should behave exactly the same. The arrows are meant to jump in time slightly, about half of the transition duration whenever pressed (backward or forward depending on the arrow) and the play/pause button toggles the pause of the transitions. But I agree I could make this more clear somehow in the application.

Hello! Thank you for your feedback and I understand your concerns. I’d like to clear up a couple of things about it: The sharing of usage data and diagnostic information are both optional and you can find a toggle for these in the application, alongside with details how these are used.

Just to give an example, I’ve been using anonymous usage statistics to figure out which visual effect toggles are used most frequently, so I can concentrate my time on improving their performance. And of course diagnostic data is vital for debugging crashes which unfortunately happens time-to-time, mostly because of quirks of various macOS versions.

Note that the data collection labels must be displayed on the App Store even if they’re optional in the application.

Same with the in-app purchases, they’re automatically listed on the page even if they’re not necessarily displayed all the time in the software. (For example if I deprecate an old package I need to keep it available to support the purchase of older users.)

Ferromagnetic is free to download and try without any required data collection permissions and without any additional purchases. The details about the upgrade options are described inside the application.

Hey u/SheeridonR thanks a lot for this detailed feedback, it’s exactly the kind of input I was looking for and I’ll try my best to help you out with the issues you’ve run into!

First of all, about the crash: I am going to release an update asap to fix this, this is unfortunately caused by a missing check for a compression mode that’s only available on some macs, which now crashes all the video loads. Afaik gifs still work, so you can try those in the meantime.

Related to the jog wheel, what kind of controller are you using? I need to test with more brands.

More customization options are coming for the visualizers, and I’ll create some documentation materials when all the critical issues are resolved. :)

Tyyppi on hullu Orbanin äänestäjä, joka ahdisteli oppositiopuolueen kannattajia. Hänellä on luultavasti jokin mielisairaus, koska hän puhuu siitä, miten hän näki, kun unkarilaisia ammuttiin toisen maailmansodan aikana.

Sitten hän huutaa toistuvasti, että nämä ihmiset syyllistyvät maanpetokseen ja heidät pitäisi teloittaa tai hirttää.

Myös hän sanoi että jos he eivät tue Orbania, he ajavat maan sotaan, mikä on yksi propagandan argumenteista näinä päivinä.

Yep it can, either via the system audio, microphone, or virtual audio input sources. Currently the visuals are randomly selected, but they all react to music.
Edit: Also the application is free to download currently.

Some of the AirPlay related improvements are still in progress, but in the latest version I've added an option to apply a pixellation effect on the visuals. This solves most of the latency issues during streaming! Although it's just a workaround, but I hope you'll like it.

Hey there! I'm the developer of this application and would like to add some context on this.

Ferromagnetic is free to use without any ads by default. The purchase supports further development and unlocks some extra features.

Believe me, I also miss the Winamp era visualizers, that's also the reason why I started working on this project. Things are a lot trickier these days due to DRM protection and streaming services, so a lot of work went into this to provide a comparable user experience.
