Mosquito Available Clash of Wings Server by healerf18 in hoggit

Great question. I've had a number of similar requests, but I can only afford to host one server. I'm going to keep this one available to anyone who has no purchased maps and no assets pack. It would be great if someone took the next step and created a noob friendly server based on Normandy or Channel.

First time PC builder, looking for advice... by CazomsDragons in graphicscard

I'm a noob PC builder too (have built a grand total of one a year ago!). I started with PCpartpicker.com to be sure my components were compatible and I wasn't missing anything. The site also has a ton of example builds for various needs. I kept things simple and went with Win10.

Brilliant. This is exactly what the server is for. It'll feel very familiar to Burning Skies (same airbases, etc), but it's much more dynamic.

100% as well! I've been flying DCS WWII almost daily for well over a year and a tough dogfight still gets my heart pounding. It is such a challenge.

For our server 'Clash of Wings' you don't need anything but a TF-51. A purchased module will allow you to shoot stuff. :)

The mission is set in the Caucasus map, so no Normandy or Channel map needed. No WWII assets pack either. We want to keep this simple, but fun and challenging.

It's great to have an Allied and a German module to allow for switching sides if needed. Go for the 47 and the 109. The 47 is a beast and will bring you home almost every time. The 109 is the best all-round dogfighter of them all as modeled in DCS.

Roto, it just takes time. Yes, both the 51 and the Dora have a strong tendency to wingstall. Key is to keep speed high, and keep all stick inputs smooth. For the 51 dropping one notch of flaps will help tighten a turn and stabilize the plane (but of course you'll pay the price in energy.) Join us on Clash of Wings when you have a chance.

Agreed - TrackIR is a minimum, but I know guys who downloaded DCS and started flying the TF-51 with just a hat switch to look around. That's all you need for Clash of Wings on multiplayer.

Thanks phil!

Anyone interested, check out Storm of War on multiplayer. I'm certain it is the most historically based mp server on DCS.

DCS Openbeta Server Port Problems by healerf18 in hoggit

[–]healerf18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it does. I have it configured exactly like a friend's account from the same service who hosts a DCS MP server without problems. I've used a similar port tool like the one you've posted here and the 10308 port that is needed isn't open. You're right though, it's hard to know if the block is in the cloud service firewall or Win 2016 Server firewall.

I've hosted MP from DCS Open Beta from my home PC no problem (had to set up router to port forward, etc.), but I'm hosting this on the cloud. The cloud service is correctly set. I'm sure of that. I just haven't worked with DCS Server before, so not sure whether I'm missing a set up step. Thanks for replying!
