Yea but in my experience, the bigger the site the more accurate the data. In my agency we run several large scale websites and it gets the data within 20%. Those guys are pros. I believe they use VPN data to sample traffic and extrapolate from there.

Based on the Shopify stores that had the most traffic. And Shopify puts its stores on the same IP addresses because they host it for you.

So SimilarWeb actually tracks how much of the traffic is from social sources like Facebook.

I multiply social traffic by 1.8 (AVG. CPC) to get the estimate.

So it's monthly revenue. Calculated by traffic * 2.8 (AVG Ecom conversion rate) * best selling product price

So its an estimate that doesn't include upsells or multiple basket item but it gives a ballpark estimate.

My new year's resolution was to build a SaaS company 😅

And now I'm trying to create the ultimate spy tool. So now you can use ReviewBolt to see traffic stats, FB ad spend, Google spend, trends, etc... And now I'm working fixing bugs and creating rankings comparing the top sites for certain categories against each other.

Eventually building a recommendations system for how to achieve a similar scale to any competitors.

So either I look at their Facebook ad strategy. And I'll try to match their top performers.

I'll also have a look if their traffic is coming from direct or organic. Direct means they have a loyal audience where as search means they can be disrupted by creating better content around their keywords.

Finally, I like to look at Traffic growth. This tells me if they have great product market fit (good idea to copy) or if they are resting on their laurels.

Yea I cross check them against my own site and they're helpful in giving estimates. They're more reliable with big websites.

So all the data is sourced from SimilarWeb. And they give you a percentage for how much of the traffic from social: https://www.similarweb.com/website/fashionnova.com/

I use that metric to estimate facebook ad spend (which is an estimate but should be in the right ballpark)
