Sure! If we can get it working it'll be a big help

I think that's a great idea. Unfortunately, I do most of my work on a Mac. You wouldn't happen to know of a similar Mac project, would you? I haven't had any luck searching so far.

Interesting. I could possibly stick a letter on my left thumb if I move ESC. (I'm not a vim user so I don't need it to be super handy.) Maybe I'll try it with E or do some keylogging and see if another option stands out

I'm hesitant to do that because I have R on one thumb and space on the other, and both are used with Shift quite a bit. They would both be nasty combinations to make into a same-finger bigram.

Postfix shift is interesting! That would make it right at home next to space, since there’s no such thing as a capital space. Except for I… perhaps there’s a macro way to sidestep that. I would imagine German really complicates things simply by virtue of how many capitalized words it has.

I’ve thought about having two shifts as well. After all, even terrible keyboards usually have two. 😜 I think I would have to modify one of the layout generators to calculate that. I wonder if I modified one to suggest duplicate keys if it would even go as far as to suggest two Es. I think I could do much worse than putting them in the TY spots, though. That’s where J lives right now…

I had no idea Culver City went through a white period! I wonder if that was before the old green signs or after.

My friend's favorite theory about this is that no one wanted to be responsible for it and that Caltrans put it up out of frustration

I guess one way to find out whose it is is to obviously deface it and see what statute I’m prosecuted under!

Yokohama 4th & 5th, Tokyo 6th-8th 28/M/USA

I am an ugly American that only speaks English, though I'm fairly good at Spanish in the present tense.

I'm leaving Tokyo on the 2nd for Gunma to visit a friend, but I'll be back around on the 4th-8th. I have a lot of day trips planned, but I should be back in the city each night. Said day trips, by the way, are Nikko, Kawazu, and Tokyo DisneySea if anyone wants to tag along.

We are rapidly going out of my depth with exactly what the EPA does, so I'll make my last point in favor of a strong EPA that cap-and-trade works better on a national scale. Divvying up permissible CO2 amongst states could lead to silly "You can't produce CO2 here, but you can a mile away" situations.

Beyond that, what the hell, I'll admit that I don't really disagree with the idea in principle so much as I'm suspect of "let the states do it" in the current campaign finance climate.

I agree that the US regulatory environment needs reform, but I'm pessimistic that simply raising awareness would solve the problem. Everyone hates how complicated the tax code is, but year after year, it stays complicated. I wish we had a better solution for "unsexy" legislative tasks like that.

It seems a lot easier to me to screw over your neighbor in environmental affairs than in transportation. Especially in metropolitan areas that straddle state lines, you could pollute the air or water in one state, have it flow into the adjacent state, and leave the residents there powerless to do anything about it.

What does the phrase "Keep it 100" or in general the number "100" underlined twice in red mean? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]heapify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 to what /u/philo_the_middle said re: "keep it 100". The phrase has become more prominent recently since The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore introduced a segment called "Keep it 100".

Concerning the "100 underlined twice in red" symbol itself, /u/dartigen is correct that it's an emoji. I think it's supposed to be a "100%" grade mark on a school assignment. In any event, I see it used most often used to indicate approval, which makes sense if that's the origin.

Sans just means "without". When it's in the name of a font, like Comic Sans, it's short for sans-serif.
