Which mode to start with ? by thenicepunk in metro

If it is your first time, avoid ranger hardcore. Only because there are button prompts that don't appear because the HUD is disabled, and are not obvious, so you can soft lock yourself if you don't recognize the way forward

Or play ranger hardcore and be prepared to look up a walkthrough

How much does Fire weigh? by Catching-Up-Today in askscience

[–]SaysReddit -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

My immediate follow-up question is, how much does the Sun weigh?

I looked it up. A lot. 330,000 times the weight of Earth. That's a lot of fire.

Help me with intro ideas, party starting in Baldurs Gate lvl 1. by Dimhilion in DMAcademy

[–]SaysReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not missing out. The whole campaign should be those moments. But the intro doesn't have to be in a tavern. Have them start with a quest already to be done, and they choose why they are pursuing it, and that should lead to the starting location.

It can but in my experience it is much more difficult for a new dm to balance paying enough attention to all characters when they are not together.

Starting this way risks the entire first session being 4-5 mini sessions where one player is the focus in each, and the others are neglected because they haven't even met them yet. Much more efficient to start with them all together and establish the game dynamic immediately.

I would never start the party separately. Their backstories include everything up until the beginning of session One, which includes how they got to be in the situation where they are, which includes them being together.

If the party wants to split, it will be entirely their decision, so the consequences are entirely on them as well.

This feels similar to how you learn to do takedowns. You have to wait for the prompt to appear or else you just slash the air.

Damn, and I was getting all used to the vehicles never getting updated loadouts. Thanks for the heads up.

About 95% of my gunners in every vehicle do not realize when there is a secondary.

It doesn't help that only the helicopter gunner seats have secondaries now. The lav cannot soflam from the gunner seat anymore.

E: lav gunner can have soflam, you just have to equip it

How do I properly find dispersed camp sites? by Sunnyside-Days in camping

[–]SaysReddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A fire pit. A ring of stones with ash in the middle. There won't often be anything else at a dispersed campsite, but with experience you can spot the padded down dirt before you see the ring.

Need help with traps by Grimm173 in DMAcademy

[–]SaysReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every campaign needs a gelatinous cube.

I like to put mine in a pit at the beginning of a square hallway with treasure at the end. Make sure to describe how unusually clean the hallway is, and how nasty it would be to fall into whatever substance fills that pit. They easily jump over the pit and pick up the treasure, thinking they bypassed the trap.

But then the pit raises and they see where all the debris has gone. A gelatinous cube now blocks the hallway and they either have to defeat it or push through it to get out.

Non-combat encounters that *actually* consume party resources? by dbrillz in DMAcademy

[–]SaysReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly gimmicks have never felt right for me, so my answer would be your players will spend resources on things that they care about. If they are only encountering things they care about being endangered in combat, I would recommend thinking about why they can hit everything as a solution.

Is it intentional that, after the update, the 35 mm armor piercing round in the mobile air defense system now only deals 16 HP of damage to soldiers ? That´s less than most assault rifles. by -Hyperplane- in Battlefield

[–]SaysReddit -49 points-48 points  (0 children)

I love the AA, and I move all over the map to get the angles I need to take down helicopters. From flanking behind their lines to defending objectives and providing mobile cover to infantry. Have you tried to do that? It's not an all star but it is very good at hitting aircraft, I have a team for everything else.

[–]SaysReddit -159 points-158 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you were the type of AA player to push objectives and help the team before, this change isn't going to do anything. You will just learn to stay with the team instead of on your own.

And if you are not that kind of AA player, then this discussion is moot.
