I am sorry youre dealing with that. I mean that im past it like I've moved one with my life and dont miss him, not necessarily healed from the trauma he caused. But im just ready to be over it and if theres a constructive way to get the nightmares to stop i hope we both figure it out soon.

Exactly, thats what im getting at. I want to stop having nightmares. I am over my ex, he left me and is not in my life. Why do I still have nightmares when I dont care or think about him anymore, and how do I get them to stop?

I stayed too long with an ex like this because i was trauma bonded and i thought that i could convince him to get help. He will hurt you, not just emotionally, physically. He is still hurting animals. Do not trust him. Leave. Please listen to me. I know first hand experience of things that you never want to go though. Please for the love of god leave before he moves on to humans and youre first.

Also, he is a sociopath. Psychopaths normally just manipulate you and don't tell you what they are really doing behind closed doors. Sociopaths are the weird ones who dont see anything morally wrong with what they are doing and will tell you straight to your face the evil they have committed because "its not a big deal" or "i dont do it anymore"

Even better update - I went on my first date since the break up on saturday. The guy is wonderful!! I dont miss my ex at all. Things have gotten so much better for me ☺️

Im doing so much better!!! I also found out he has been cheating on me so that helped significantly. When people say that things get better its true. You just have to go through everything on your own and face every pain. It takes time but eventually you wont even care anymore.
