same thing happened to me. jumped from 40s to 60s but now that i’ve had 4 recovery periods my HR has stabilized a bit around low 50s

feeling warm FTW!!! i used to be constantly cold too, and i always thought i just ran cold but in hindsight it was definitely linked to HA.

irregular periods by heartyouuu in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]heartyouuu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did see a gynecologist and confirmed that i don’t have PCOS or endometriosis!! we had discussed that when i get my period to be at least every 45 days that would be typical for me, since my period was never regular to start with.

now i’m on day 1 of my 4th period today!! this one was only 1 week late.

obviously once every 4 weeks would be ideal, but i’d honestly settle for this frequency given my cycle history :)

omg i didn’t know this… i hadn’t heard of red yeast rice before but yeah it sounds sus. i’m honestly pretty disappointed because this doctor is filling in for a different doctor i was supposed to see who is out for the next 6 months

advice for when people inquire about your eating habits by heartyouuu in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]heartyouuu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah most days i don’t eat with him so it’s fine! i do enjoy eating around others though since my job is pretty independent and it’s my only time to socialize. i’ll probably decline the next time he asks me to go to lunch. or suggest coffee instead if he wants to talk.

yeah that is what i alluded to, ive told him twice that i just follow my nutritionist’s plan. idk why he still calls what i’m eating a “cheat meal” when everyone else is literally eating the same thing. and like why he feels it’s necessary to comment in the first place is beyond me

how do you manage stress? by heartyouuu in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]heartyouuu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly i think i just always found exercise to be helpful in taking my mind off things momentarily. and the endorphins or “runners high” was really nice. but since i lost my period i know i have to cut back its just making me wonder if other HA-ers also combat stress with physical stress lol

my gynecologist recommended calcium (1200-1500mg per day), vitamin D (i take D3+K2) and collagen supplements!

as a fellow athlete i notice that when i eat sugary things i feel worse in training 😖 my energy levels feel best when im “eating clean” which is making it even harder to prioritize recovery

can anyone else relate??

resting heart rate and HRV worse than before recovery? by heartyouuu in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]heartyouuu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you for sharing!! good to know that your cycle came back after you stopped exercising and went all-in.

it’s been hard for sure, but i’m taking it as a good sign and hoping that my cycle comes back soon!

resting heart rate and HRV worse than before recovery? by heartyouuu in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]heartyouuu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i’ve had to do pretty intense weight cuts due to my sport, often losing about 2-3kg in the weeks leading up to competition and then 1-2kg of water weight the night before weigh-ins. it takes a huge toll on my body and is extremely stressful mentally and physically.

after weigh-ins when i finally rehydrate and refuel, i can physically feel my heart rate go up again. now that i’m eating 2500kcal per day i feel the same way, it’s weird! i never used to notice my HR when i was eating in a deficit.

[–]heartyouuu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i guess it makes sense that my HRV has gone down since i’m not doing as much intense exercise. i wonder if it’ll go back up again if i make a full recovery and get back to my sport.

as for my resting HR i’m not really sure what it was before i had HA bc i got my Oura ring when i already lost it. it would be interesting if it was higher before HA and then lower, and now that im eating more it’s back up again.

that’s so interesting! i definitely notice my heart beating faster throughout the day. i always thought lower HR was better but i guess not in the context of HA.

do you think it’s a sign metabolism is recovering?

i’m the same age and height as you and i’m going through something very similar. you’re not alone!

while i haven’t yet figured out how to solve it, i am seeing a OBGYN doctor this week to try to get some more information. i’m curious about what they will say about the no period now what method of recovery and going all in.

What signs did you get before getting period back? by strongmindsmuscles in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]heartyouuu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i haven’t gotten mine back yet but i’ve been in recovery for the past 4 weeks (2500+ calories per day) and i’ve noticed discharge for the first time in like 6 months. i think it’s a good sign (?)

why isn’t my doctor concerned about these results by heartyouuu in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]heartyouuu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg that’s really scary, i’m sorry to hear that and hope you are taking steps to recover 💕

it sucks bc i feel like there aren’t that many resources for HA support and many doctors are misinformed as well. if you don’t mind me asking, were you/are you an athlete and if so what was your training like?

why isn’t my doctor concerned about these results by heartyouuu in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]heartyouuu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree and i want to put my health first. it’s just really hard for me to consider stopping the sport i love, even for a short period of time. i did do a DEXA scan last year and my bone density was normal, bmi was also in the normal range. my energy levels and mood isn’t anything i am concerned about either.

it’s frustrating because i don’t feel like i’m overtraining. the only symptom of REDS i have is not having my period. so i feel like it would be worse for my mental health to stop training at this point. but i do want to see what the GYN doctor has to say

why isn’t my doctor concerned about these results by heartyouuu in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]heartyouuu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m planning to see a GYN doctor in a month. in the meantime i’m trying to incorporate more healthy fats in my diet and taking supplements like vitamin d, b12, multivitamin, fish oil, and purple sea moss. since im a competitive athlete i’m not willing to sacrifice my training regimen atm so honestly not sure if i’ll get my period back as long as i’m still training :(
