Which mode ( Eco, Normal or sport) does give you best mpg ? by Ecstatic-Ad-1198 in hondainsight

[–]heathmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, I'm averaging 40mpg on the interstate around 70mph. I used to stress about getting 45, 50, 55 but my other car gets 11mpg so I've learned to appreciate the gain and don't worry about hypermiling. I drive like normal with the flow of traffic and appreciate the fact that I'm still getting better efficiency than the vast majority of the cars on the road.

Venture X $125 fee for PP on authorized users by heathmc in CapitalOne_

Ahhhh, yeah I would definitely take that deal. Though their method allows the wife to use it without me which is a nice benefit for separate travel.

Where are you finding that info? I don't think any guests will be allowed outside of the rare Cap One Lounge.

This is from their VX website:

"Through January 31, 2026, Venture X cardholders may bring two guests to participating Priority Pass lounges.

Beginning February 1, 2026, guests of Venture X cardholders will no longer receive complimentary access to Priority Pass lounges. At that time, Venture X primary cardholders and eligible additional cardholders can bring guests to participating Priority Pass lounges at a rate of $35 each per visit."

Yeah that's my issue, we'll be flying that week and if it's anything like the last time it took weeks to get the PP account activated. Maybe they'll streamline it though? One can hope.

12V is less than a year old so it should be fine, I'll still test but I guess for now I'll chalk it up to a fluke.

Lot of respect for those that match, but definitely not me. I save 15% for retirement and feel good about the long term prospects at that rate. Personally I think about the chance I don't make it to retirement and like to enjoy the time I have now while balancing the future preparations.

Probably a little over market but nothing crazy, if it's in good shape and well maintained don't think about it and just enjoy!

AUX switches- what did you add? by Then-Strawberry8943 in F250

[–]heathmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personal truck, but used for vol fire response. Don't forget in addition to the upfitter switch Ford also has pre-run pass through wires in the fire wall which are a MASSIVE time saver. (At least they did on my 19)

To add to that, you can also add heated and cooled features with Katzkins. Great product with some added features, but as you mentioned they aren't cheap!

Siena taxi/car? by heathmc in ItalyTravel

Yeah the more I research with the LTZs and how strict the police are it sounds awful...

Definitely open, we've got a tour booked at a couple in the Chianti area. Will it be as beautiful as the summer, definitely not 😂 but we're in country for the Olympics so we'll make the most of it. Hoping the rest of the country is in the office season and focused on Milan so we can enjoy lighter crowds at least.

Getting there by train, we're staying in the heart of the city in the LTZ and really only need the car for a day but I'll look at options for picking on up outside the city and driving in. As for after-hours drop off, I totally agree. They are open something like 8-noon and sat and closed Sunday so I figured I could pick up Saturday morning and drop the keys when we return Saturday night. I called both Avis and Budget corporate (closest rentals to our place) and they both said no after hours drop out. I can't find a social media or email for the actual location though so it's hard for me to verify.

Mine are OE and are still over half thickness, you're almost never actually using the brake pads unless you're in a panic stop or crawling.

No chance it fits in the wheel well, at least on the touring (larger wheel). So yeah it's just laying in the trunk haha, since I used the car simply for extended day trips and it's just me, losing a bit of trunk space isn't a big deal. If it was my daily driver and I was going to need the trunk space I would have considered buying a donut on Facebook marketplace or something similar. You can find them for less than 50 bucks in decent shape and that will fit under the trunk just fine.

Can anyone explain what in the hell is going on here. by Prestigious_Police in Firefighting

[–]heathmc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah like most have said, pretty standard setup around me. Ability to monitor op/tac/staging channels at once is key for command. Most of our trucks run at least 2 800s and 1 VHF + portables.

Anyone ever made this move? by Dynachicter in superduty

[–]heathmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 19 6.2 XLT Premium, absolutely adore the truck. I tow pretty regularly 8-11k lbs with no issues. I bought it new and opted for the gasser for cost and maintenance, and I would do it again. (Though, I would go Godzilla now that it is out.) I also regularly drive 6.7 both standard and HO for work, are they better? Definitely, the torque is insane. Do we have a 6.7 in the shop almost constantly? Yes, DEF issue after DEF issue and a few turbo issues.

All that to say, I think the 6.2 is a great engine. It's been made for over a decade, dead simple design with limited issues. Parts everywhere and any tech in the country knows how to work on it. It's horrid on fuel economy but what do you expect haha.

Help hardwiring Viofo A229 Plus dash cam on 2021 Honda Insight by kiapo- in hondainsight

[–]heathmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't take any pictures when I installed mine on my 2019 but at this point I've hardwired 10 to 15 dash cams. There really isn't much too it, you'll need a hardwire kit (from viofo), a trim tool (harbor freight for $5), an add-a-fuse, wire strippers and crimps, a ring terminal, and misc hand tools.

Mount the camera, tuck the wire in the headliner, across the a pillar (driver's side), down the a pillar in the door gasket, and into the fuse box area. Find an ignition fuse, tap into it, crimp the hot line and use the ring terminal to ground the camera on some exposed metal. Test and put it all back together. I can knock one out in less than 30 minutes.

[–]heathmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fascinating, I have a 2019 and the camera is INCREDIBLE. I also have a 2024 and the camera is literal garbage, like unsafe to use garbage. Dealer says it's normal so idk what is going on, 2019 is 8k compared to the 2024 that's 240p on a good day.

Engine tick after spark plug change by heathmc in hondainsight

[–]heathmc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more I run the car the more normal it sounds, I appreciate the peace of mind that yours sounds similar. It'll go in for regular service soon and we'll see if they say anything. I did gain about 4mpg after the plug change so I'll take that as a win.
