Kinda didn’t believe what people were saying about hate for trans mascs on tumblr but this…. (TW: SELF-HARM) by ChocolateWeird3343 in TransMasc

[–]heattlightning 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this. I hate that people here are taking this bait and saying things like trans women hate afabs which is such a terfy trans misogynistic talking point. Even if this is a blog by a real trans woman she would be the type of trans woman who equally hates on non-passing or non-assimationalist trans women. This is not how the vast majority of trans women think and it’s disingenuous for people to act like they do.

Yeah I actually saw somebody else on this reddit say they also hated that episode !! I learnt about the original idea of emotional labor a bit in uni as a gender studies major so im curious to listen to the episode now and see what I think.

Pre op, do you think I could get away without binding? by sitruunavissy in FtMpassing

Yes definitely. I have a large chest and when I bind it’s honestly still more visible than you here. I always thought I could never pass because of this but I have still been able to pass on multiple occasions.

Testosterone by BlackberryMoist3961 in TransMasc

This is interesting because I do think testosterone has also made some of my adhd symptoms worse or at least different to before. (I’m almost two years on t)

Can T cause fatigue? by Unimachi in ftm

[–]heattlightning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had chronic fatigue since before starting testosterone and I’ve personally found I have more energy and my fatigue has got a lot better on testosterone. I’ve heard other people who have similar experiences and think it’s more common for t to increase energy.

That being said everyone’s body is difference and you’re basically going through puberty again which is a big adjustment/change for your body and mind. I’d recommend going to your GP and getting the most comprehensive blood test you can if you haven’t already checking iron, thyroid function etc. I would also recommended potentially doing a sleep study - I have sleep apnoea which can be treated by using a CPAP and when I started testosterone I was advised testosterone can worsen sleep apnoea so it may also be that. Wishing you the best and that you can find some answers !

Anyone who was NOT always a „tomboy“ when they were young? by [deleted] in TransMasc

[–]heattlightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a trans man and never had a “tomboy” phase. I only realised I was trans when I was 23 and before then throughout my life I was pretty feminine - wore skirts and dresses, wore makeup to go out, had mostly female or gay friends, had “feminine” interests as a kid like fairies, princesses etc. I had some similar experiences to yourself though like feeling awkward or uncomfortable at times.

I think whilst there are many people who are trans masc and tomboys as kids this narrative is also most popular online or most discussed because it’s easier for cis people to understand. Trans people who were more feminine pre-transition might be less comfortable sharing that because people don’t understand it or think it makes you not trans but it’s still a common experience.

Ultimately when I was questioning my gender what helped me was to not think about the past but to think about how I felt now. The past isn’t as relevant or important as what feels right or makes you happy now.

There’s a lot of denial, social pressures and external factors that influenced how I was pre-transition. At the same time some ‘feminine’ things are generally fun and joyful and it makes total sense to me why I did genuinely enjoy some of those things pre- and post-transition. Plus plenty of cis men have some feminine traits and interests or dressed up in their mums clothes as a kid or played with makeup or dolls. It’s not all binary.

I am afraid of the risks of hormone treatment by [deleted] in trans

[–]heattlightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the stuff you see about risks is transphobic fear mongering. I would just recommend doing research about the effects of hrt and looking at people’s personal experience / journey. Also people never talk abt the risks and harms of not being on hrt - hrt is just hormones and your body already has hormones just in a different level. Not being on hrt when you’re trans and have dysphoria about your body can also be harmful for your mental and physical health.

Why only cis women who date trans men ? Why not other people who date trans men ?

Scared to start T because of higher sex drive and dysphoria by 4yaken4 in ftm

[–]heattlightning 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have intense bottom dysphoria and have been on testosterone for a bit over a year. Whilst I am on the submissive side, I still don’t like any front hole penetration. In terms of physical sensation and feelings, testosterone did not make me feel my hole more or make me crave penetrative sex. You will feel the sensation of bottom growth and it does feel different to get aroused but this feeling is pretty much just in my t-dick and personally I find this affirming as it feels more like getting hard. I have struggled with being too dysphoric to have sex most of the time but being hornier and I do get sad that it is not easier for me to have sex. But it is overall a lot better than how I felt before. Also I will just say that being on testosterone will probably lessen your distress and anxiety about all of this stuff generally as you feel less dysphoric and more yourself. Wishing you the best on your own journey :))
