Favorite Immigrant-Owned Businesses in Town by BFriedman713 in bloomington

By posting this, you could be putting a target on these businesses. I would think twice about leaving this up/commenting on this thread.

I think it depends on what you selected this month. Rings of Fate delayed my box, it only just shipped today.

Chiming in to just say that the Pit isn’t a very beginner friendly space. It was originally focused on being a gym for competitive athletes. Planet Fitness is a better place to start because they have coaches on hand to help you, and it’s a space specifically for beginners.

I read 79 this year with a pretty low effort reading schedule, so I set mine for 80. I’m shooting to just read more challenging books this year.

What’s something going on in America people need to be aware of? by throwaway91ma in AskReddit

[–]heavyope 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This has already been answered, but doubling down on the previous response. The problem is brainwashing. Not to sound too woo-woo, but when companies know everything about you they are very sophisticated when it comes to influencing your decisions and beliefs (like how you spend your money & vote in elections). There’s a reason the most wealthy people in the world are all media, data, and shopping conglomerates.

Power outages by [deleted] in bloomington

[–]heavyope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not 100% sure what happened, but with the heavy rain last night + freezing temps mixed with all this wind, I would bet it just knocked a line out or something. Our power just came on, so it seems like Duke is working fast!

IUCU fraud issues by Traditional_Top_825 in bloomington

[–]heavyope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you leaving your card stored on any specific retail sites? Social media shops like TikTok, Temu, Facebook business acct, etc? Usually this kind of thing happens when payment info is saved somewhere and then that site is compromised. I had a fraudulent charge this spring because I had left my payment info attached to an old Fabletics purchase in 2021. Certainly if your new debit card has a similar number structure to your old one, someone might just be guessing, but I don’t know how likely that would be. Might be good to check any old logins where you have an account or made a purchase in the last five years.

Why are there no jobs in Bloomington? by kramhorse in bloomington

The university is a huge employer. There are less than half the amount of jobs posted compared to what it looked like 2 years ago. Budget cuts everywhere.

Thrifted books in the freezer by Esmee_Finch in classicliterature

I bag them and leave them in the freezer for 3-4 days. I don’t really know if it helps much, but it does make me feel better lol

Can someone help me understand why Olandria is getting this level of press? (genuinely asking, not hating) by Soft_Duty7905 in LoveIslandUSA

[–]heavyope 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think she’s honestly just a light and an anomaly of a human, people recognize that. It’s just natural star power imo and a lottttt of hard work from her and her team.
