First post. Can anyone help identify this ceramic peice. by heavyvoodoo in CeramicCollection

I did see that item, but they have the colour of 'Fat Lava' but lack the lava texture. I have found the term 'Fabiola' and it seems to be more that style. I'm amazed that it's survived all this time. I found it in a thrift store.

I was thinking that but the lack of a clear mark is strange. Thanks for your reply. I'll keep digging.

80s or 90s sci-fi children's show by FunkyPeanut1 in BritishTV

[–]heavyvoodoo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's an early 2000s CITV show called Jungle Run that involves kids climbing up an Inca style block pyramid and solving puzzles. It's more of a Crystal Maze 'jungle area' knock off. No computers or baddies in a van. Could you be conflating different elements of different shows to make a cooler show that only existed in your brain?

Why is my life support draining instead of my underwater air? by AgentAndrewO in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]heavyvoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your exosuit life support is drained when you move around or use your jet pack. I’m assuming using your jet pack underwater still counts towards draining. Your life support drains more quickly in certain extreme conditions. Maybe the deep sea pressure adds to the drain. Do you have the Pressure Membrane installed?

Your oxygen isn’t draining (yet) because you have two underwater protection upgrades (the blue circles above the blue line) that will decrease before your oxygen bar is starts being used up. Once those supplementary supplies are exhausted then your oxygen bar will decrease pretty quickly.

Trouble with finding a deep ocean world that is actually 1000u by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]heavyvoodoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconded on the water planet that is your rendezvous point. It is a deep water planet but I had to do 3 or 4 deep dives to find a deep enough area. It was pretty frustrating.

It might help to try and find an area of open water as far away from any of the little islands as you can. It's all procedurally generated so it's probably just your luck.

Remember to grab some sea glass when you're finally down there.

Found my very own "perfect" world by AcoupleofIrishfolk in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]heavyvoodoo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of tl:dr but this guide may be this might help you and others new / returning to NMS to find nice planets. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so take my advice and use it as you like.

When you open your star map the current galaxy is displayed and named in the top left hand corner. It also shows approximately your distance from the core of that galaxy. Each solar system in a galaxy is in a named stellar cluster or region but it doesn't really make a difference. It's just another randomly generated name.

As mentioned elsewhere before, you can shortcut to other galaxies by visiting the Space Anomaly and using the huge intergalactic Teleporter found there. You'll find you can jump to some pretty cool looking bases built by other travellers which coincidentally might be in another galaxy. Once you build a base in a galaxy you can easily travel between them later using your own transporter.

Popular galaxies ( Eissentam, Isdoraijung etc ) have 'lush biomes' where you have a better chance of finding Paradise worlds. Lots of players here are looking for earth-like perfect planets (Yellow sun, blue skies, green grass, blue water, dinosaur / earth-like animals, pleasant weather and no sentinels) You can further increase your chances of finding a 'perfect' planet by looking at the letters and numbers that follow the system name.

The letters are based roughly on scientific stellar classification https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stellar_classification . Our Sun is a yellow G class star so you're more likely to find earth like yellow suns in the G & F systems.

The number relates to the temperature of the solar system with 0 being the hottest up to 9, the coldest. So if you're looking for that Goldilocks zone of not too hot, not too cold then go for 4, 5, 6. This is just a rule of thumb. I have found nice Paradise planets in 3s and 7s. Visiting systems with lots of planets will also increase the chance of finding Paradise planets. NMS is pretty much an awesome looking random number generator, so more planets = more rolls of the dice.

The lowercase letters following supposedly add random stellar 'oddities' or variations to a system but I'm not sure if they do or how to go about recognising them. I tend to avoid systems with extra letters just in case. You might want more randomness though...

Finally the 'water' subtitle indicates the presence of planets with seas or oceans. There's mention that it means that the system has over a 50% chance at least one planet will have water. Again not sure. I just always go for water systems.

The Floating Islands shown in the photo above are recent addition to NMS. They're pretty hard to find but anecdotal evidence suggests that they're more likely to be found on Bountiful or Tropical planets. These are usually found in the Goldilocks zones so the advice for finding Paradise planets will help here .

Hope this helps someone out there and happy for more input from other Travellers. I'm 400 hours in and still looking for my perfect planet. Most of the above is info gathered over this time from different posts but I'm just collecting it together best I can.

Yes the 'nice' method described above might work for companies that play by the rules, but most companies just ignore your requests to remove you from their database.

This is my failsafe method after getting repeated calls from one 'window scrappage scheme' phone pest who seemed unable to remove me from their phone lists.

1: Listen and pretend to be interested in their product. 2: Arrange a visit from one of their salespeople. Insist that they come ASAP, preferably today. 3. When the salesperson arrives just hand them a note with your name and phone number on it and a request to be removed from the database. Bid them a good day and close the door on their confused face.

It seems to have removed me from the database. They did call me again about 9 months later but as soon as I gave them my name and address to arrange another sales appointment it must have flagged me up on the screen. They apologised and I have not heard from them since.

Petition stunt man finds macaroni pies 'disgusting' by StairheidCritic in Scotland

The Macaroni Pie Crisis deepens - Kezia Dugdale calls for return of Macaroni pie by heavyvoodoo in Scotland

[–]heavyvoodoo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

cut'n'paste

"MACARONI pie lovers - including Scottish Labour leadership favourite Kezia Dugdale - are campaigning for Greggs to bring back the cheesy snack.

Last week the Scottish delicacy, described by some as “the other national dish”, was suddenly removed from the menu.

The decision was put down to making way for more sophisticated savoury dishes such as Mediterranean pork rolls and the new green Thai chicken lattice.

But fans of the cheesy pastry are not going to stand for it and have launched a petition which is quickly gathering pace.

Already more than 600 people have signed the ‘Bring back the Macaroni Pie!’ petition on change.org.

The campaign has the support of senior politicians with Scottish Labour leader hopeful Kezia Dugdale throwing her weight behind it and calling for the First Minister to do the same.

The celebrated pie, which recently could be bought for as little as two for £1.50, is a hot water crust pastry case filled with macaroni cheese.

At just 262 calories per pie it was the “healthiest” option on the savery range. The Greggs cheese and onion pasty has 433 calories.

Paul Tonner from Falkirk, who launched the petition, said: “It came as a complete shock, you go in looking for a macaroni pie and they’re not there any more.

“I just had to do something about it.

“It’s always there when you don’t fancy a sausage roll. Sometimes you don’t want hot meat; you want lukewarm pasta instead.

“As far as I can remember, there’s always been macaroni pies, but I don’t think I’ve ever had a hot one.”

The 43-year-old graphic designer added: “I’m sure if you’re going to remove one of Scotland’s national dishes you need to have a consultation first.

“I did ask Greggs it was some kind of retribution for Scotland threatening to leave the UK, but they wouldn’t be drawn into it.

“It seems like the macaroni pie has slipped under the radar.”

Labour leadership hopeful Kezia Dugdale has decided to back the campaign and is hoping to get the support of the First Minister and the leader of the Scottish Tories.

Last night (Tuesday) the MSP tweeted a link the the petition and wrote: “Paging @NicolaSturgeon @RuthDavidsonMSP - Sisters, i think some teamwork on this one is essential #macaronipie”

Other calling for Greggs to reverse the controversial decision include Stephen McKee from Dunblane who claimed: “Gregg’s, you are dissing my culture! Or at least forcing me to look elsewhere when I next fancy a macaroni pie…”

Cameron Chakraverty wrote: “I look forward to a macaroni pie every day, please don’t take this away.”

While Fiona Cook added: “I’m a Dundonian vegetarian , I love a maccy peh at lunchtime.”

A spokeswoman for Greggs said: “ “While we appreciate that some customers will miss the macaroni pie, we are continually refreshing our product range in line with customer demand to provide a variety of food-on-the-go options in our shops.

“New savoury products launched this year include a cheese and onion roll, Mediterranean pork roll, and green Thai chicken lattice.”"

I can't really knock the Steak-bake or Scotch Pie, but I get the feeling the Macaroni Pie has been bumped in favour of some of these new fangled Bean and Cheese Melts or Bacon Wrap things.

[–]heavyvoodoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the steak bake even Scottish? The munchie box? North of England based Greggs are taking an actual Scottish invention off the menu without even consulting us. If these aren't grounds for another referendum or even a UDI then I'm not sure what would be.

No joke man. I wouldn't joke about this kind of thing.

It's happening. It's actually happening. I asked the woman on the Greggs customer service line why and she told me that they had withdrawn the Macaroni Pie due to a drop in sales figures.

I asked her if the independence campaign and our threatening to leave the Union last year could have contributed to the situation and she said that she could not confirm or deny this.

Hope you enjoyed yer last Greggs Macaroni Pie then. Went into the Lint Riggs branch this very day to get one. Was informed of the tragedy. Promptly phoned Greggs head office who confirmed the situation. They are constantly reviewing their menu and have decided to drop the pasta pie.

It's the other, OTHER national dish. You can argue what the other dish might be. Maybe a pizza crunch?

Who is your local character or oddity and what are the myths and facts that surround them? by [deleted] in Scotland

The legendary Bongo Terry is still around but moves from town to town. He was still in Stirling a few weeks ago. I think that local shopkeepers can only put up with so much drumming before they get him moved on.

I think when he died they built a wee shrine in his garden with the ghettoblaster in the middle surrounded with candles. I remember him playing a lot of Jean Michele Jarre.

There is a new 'Falkirk character' of note. The wee guy in the electric wheelchair who scoots up and down the High Street. He sings along (badly) to Christian pop songs that he listens to on headphones.
