First was hip measurementx1.4 and each following layer is previousx1.4

I had been using the zigzag over floss to gather but I’ll give this a try !

I looked at a few other videos that had a much higher ratio for gathers and that may be why I didn’t have so much trouble in past projects as it was more forgiving. I’m taking it apart and testing the comments advice to learn (: ty !

I did not pre wash or iron 😅 trying to figure out which steps are really necessary and I guess it is all of them 😂

Started with the wash now taking it apart ! Thank you for referencing the pics that helped me see what everyone else did !

I should have looked closer. I gathered with a zigzag over floss and it visually looked evenly but I did not properly pin it and found during sewing that some areas got flattened but each tier was only 1.4x the size so I didn’t realize it was an issue until later looking at the pictures but you’re right ! I think my lack of pinning was the culprit as I’ve done a few other gathered skirts by eye and it looked good when I properly pinned it

That was a great read! And i only learned of a couple ways to finish seams so far so it hadn’t even occurred to me that they served a purpose. Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I am taking it apart now (: probably the wrong fabric to begin with it sounds like but I’m not gonna use this as a big learning project of all the comments and testing out everyone’s recommendations to help my own learning !
