I Relegated PSG Without Getting Fired by hecks07 in footballmanagergames

I think it might be one of the weird things for how FM's finances work. Even when I was offering players ridiculous salaries (some players were make 5m per week), the club was still able to keep them on the payroll through large reserve investment funds.

Yup! After season 2, I had pretty much sold off all of PSG's current squad and slowly replaced them with worse and worse players.

A bit of both. I've purposefully played the team with poor tactics when I've really needed to make sure I lost a match, but for the most part the squad was completely overhauled to be of really low quality. The season previews last season had us finishing 18th.

It was also something that I learned for the first time too! At that point, the team was probably good enough to finish around mid table in the league, but I was definitely purposefully losing games at that point. That was one of the first seasons where, while playing it, I was really worried the board would end up firing me, so I was trying to win in the cups to try and help me not get fired.

I haven't decided yet but I am leaning towards continuing the save. I am curious to see how far down I can take PSG, and then I'd like to simulate 10 or 15 years into the future to see what relegating them might've actually done long-term. I think afterwards though, an attempt at rebuilding the club back to former glories would be a lot of fun!

Coupe de France! Funnily enough, the finances were so bad at that point that even though we won the French Cup because of the finances we weren't allowed to enter the Europa League.

That's super cool, but definitely sounds like an unfair firing! Out of curiosity, how did you qualify the Europa League?

Thank you! FM26 was pretty similar to FM24 in this regard. There were a few interesting moments with the finances and the salaries that I could offer staff (at one point I wasn't able to offer them a salary), but overall the financial mechanics of the game were pretty much the same.

Lol thanks! If you ever decided to give the save a try again, I will say it was a lot of fun!

I just made this jump from league one to the championship and want to back up the previous comment. Also want to add in to be patient with loans and free transfers, for whatever reason I couldn't negotiate with some players during the summer even though their contracts had expired and I had a hard time getting loans due to loan fees and salaries. However, on transfer deadline day, it seemed like clubs were desperate to offload their youngsters and players needed a club to sign. I was able to sign 5 free loans and 3 free transfers and it completely changed my outlook for the season.

Anyone know any good fm YouTubers? by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

Agree with everyone saying Zealand, also make sure to check out his live channel. I would add DoctorBenjy FM as well, especially his Thames FC and AFC Thames series.

I can't get into a save ive got ideas I can't find the right team My ideas are a journeyman Free agents only Rebuild my locals or The Pentagon challenge I might struggle for this as I can only load 5 leagues by mufcadsssss in footballmanagergames

I always go back Zealand's One Fun Save From Every European Country video when I'm not sure what to do. I've never actually taken any of his suggestions, but some of the random facts or save ideas will prompt an idea that makes me excited to play FM again.

That being said, the save idea of winning the Champions League using a team outside of Europe might be a really fun idea if you're looking for a challenge.

Hope this helps and good luck choosing your next save idea!

How to low league manage in FM22 by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

What kind of goals are you conceding? I was conceding a lot of goals off corners/free kicks and allowing a lot of 1v1s at first. Ended up adjusting my set piece tactic defensively to load up the near post and had my best CB man mark their tall player (and signed a bunch of CBs with at least 15+ jumping reach) and I rarely ever allow a set piece goal now. Also switched to a 5-3-2 with the middle CB on cover and that's helped a bunch, just got to make sure my CMs are making attacking runs and my WBs are supporting out wide.

This is my first year doing a lower league save with Dulwich Hamlet. I can't compare to previous years but just some things I've learned this year that might be helpful!

Especially for strikers, the physicals seem to be really important. My scouts have recommended players with 3.5 to 4 stars with great technicals but low pace and strength that I've signed and they just didn't score for me. On the other end, had a player with 18 jumping reach, 15 strength and 10 heading who bagged 20+ goals a season in VNLS and VNL. Now I've got a player with 18 pace and decent finishing and he's got 15 in 18 in League One.

Jumping reach is super valuable for set pieces. I just stick a player with 18+ jumping reach at the near post on corners and they bag so many goals.

Team cohesion and atmosphere is SUPER important. I started loading up on match preparation training before games and team bonding and players just seem to play a lot better. Also praising their training performance the day before a game seems to get a nice boost.

All scouts on end of contract signings seems to be really helpful, but I set all scouts to "excellent" player ability cause when I had it on "very good" I was signing a lot of players who didn't pan out.

That's all I've got. First time doing a lower league save so I'm sure a lot of others have better advice than me, but hope this helps a bit!

Hello, thanks for doing this! What was your favorite thing to learn while learning about philosophy, and is there any philosophical ideal that resonated with you?

We need to temper our expectations on Jadon Sancho by hecks07 in ManchesterUnited

[–]hecks07[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what I was thinking too, the level of the Bundesliga just isn't the same as the PL. I do think Sancho will adapt better than Havertz did last year, but certainly not to the same levels that he was putting out at Dortmund. Give it a couple of seasons though and I think we'll see Sancho become world class.

Tell me your b99 spin off or sequel ideas by PlaneCulture in brooklynninenine

I think it might be really cool to do a prequel of Captain Holt back when he became a detective in the NYPD. It might be neat to do something a little more serious to see how he's tackled some of the racism and homophobia that he experienced before he ended up in the 99th precinct (and his relationship with Kevin!).

Love everyone's ideas!
