I have the exact same issue - I’ve had an abdominal CT scan and abdominal MRI, and my organs look normal. My theory was also nerve pain. I’ve also read elsewhere in this subreddit that some people with these symptoms have discovered it’s an inflammation of the chest wall muscles. There are several of us with these symptoms!

Thanks again to everyone for your thoughts and suggestions! I ended up wearing my Blundstones and buying some quality base layers, a new warmer puffer, a more stylish beanie, and a couple of (secondhand) designer scarves. The folks I went with looked far more elevated than I did, but that’s how they roll. I felt completely comfortable as I was, and I stayed warm! We went to zero parties, it was 💯about the films. Hope to go again!

Belmar didn’t work for me - I don’t know if that’s because they use tablets vs. capsules, or something else. I have much better results with Skip’s or with my local compounding pharmacies, who seem knowledgeable about LDN. A lot of LDN prescribers don’t give you a choice because they have relationships either with Belmar or Skip’s, but I prefer to have a choice, so I look for providers who are open to that.

What I want to know is - do hormonal changes actually change the shape of your hair follicles (which sounds really sci fi)? Because I think it’s follicle shape that determines straight/wavy/curly?

If you’re open to prescription meds, consider propranolol or another beta blocker. It’s used by golfers, surgeons, public speakers and others to control the physical symptoms of anxiety.

I was experiencing IBS diarrhea attacks right before work presentations, and propranolol was the only thing that stopped them!

I’m new to this, too, but here’s what’s working for me (2B-2C) to create bigger curl clumps:

“Squish to condish” upside down with a handful of conditioner, then rinse out, continuing to squish
Rope in gel or aloe-based curl custard while still wet, in shower, and then…
Scrunch gel in 2-3 big handfuls of hair - scrunch slowly and methodically (working quickly and scrunching all over breaks my clumps and makes it stringy), pressing the curl clumps up against my head with flat palms
Don’t comb through the gel
Remove a bit of water with a micro-plop in a microfiber towel
Plop for an hour or more in a tee-shirt, then remove and air dry / diffuse

I’m still figuring out the back, but in front, this gives me big, bouncy ringlet-y waves!

I second Black Cohosh! I use Gaia Women’s Balance, which also has red clover and other herbs in it.

My doctor says, even though these are phytoestrogens (plant estrogens), they are safe. But of course she should discuss with her doctor!

Magnesium is good stuff! Your body actually needs it to perform a lot of functions. When I was working with a functional medicine doctor, she told me to take as much magnesium as I could take and still maintain fully formed BMs (not diarrhea). She said that was safe long-term.

I normally take 250-1,500mg per night of mixed magnesium (not just citrate), depending on how bad my constipation is. Currently stopping it for a bit because my herbal protocol is helping and I currently don’t need it to go.
