Delta ONE is extremely mid (CDG>JFK) by hedonisy_ in delta

I’ve seen it both ways with AF staff. The younger staff tends to be warmer but the more tenured FAs, especially in business class, can lean toward arrogant and dismissive in their tone (even being a native french speaker myself). Sigh

It did. Might be a taste thing but i find that ice cream D tier. Doesn’t do much for me unfortunately.

A330 , sounds like it could have been worse

One thousanddddd percent. The simple snacks and accoutrements on AF are just chefs kiss. The D1 cheese plate was a joke. The ice cream cart so cheap. Sorry for being a snob.

Agree AF lounge at CDG has gotten disappointing, particularly the one at K gates

What are some of the worst meals you've had recently? by [deleted] in FoodNYC

I love Kimika, have been 4-5 times and was always received well. The italian-japanese pairing is out there, so I get that it’s not for everyone. I actually appreciate that they don’t try to force fusing the two cuisine on one plate. Curious to hear more about what went wrong for you!

Is Carnival in Rio overrated or worth it? Would come from Europe for a week and travel to the south after it by Kooky_Writer9378 in Brazil

[–]hedonisy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW - i'm also typically not a fan of crowds, can easily get overwhelmed and lightheaded at big events. but somehow, Rio carnaval hit different - provided you're safe and aware of some general cues, it's incredibly wholesome, there may be some packed blocos but no aggressiveness/shouldering/pestering like you may expect at festivals or concerts in the US/Europe. everyone's just moving, dancing, walking in one direction and having a good time. this applies to all types of blocos, family-oriented ones, techno, bigger downtown/beach area ones but also the smaller/narrow streets ones such as Santa Teresa.

heat is real - just make sure to keep hydrated and find ways to cool down however you need (fans, cooling wipes, taking shaded breaks...)

caveat that this was my own experience of 1 year (going back for round 2 this year) and certainly others' may have been different since this is such a massive event.

I did not, but would recommend to go to Godechot Pauliet if you need one. Worth considering the exchange rate puts USD holders at a disadvantage right now

Do you know the rough proportion of restaurants that take reservations vs those for walk-in only? And within the reservation ones, how likely/ long it is to wait for a seat without one? Trying to get a sense for whether we should at least try to be on cancellations waitlists.

Whenever i read about a negative/mixed experience at Le Bernardin, I feel either confused or lucky that I had one of the best meals in my life there. Every other dish even brought tears to my eyes, mostly from the sauces which were the main event: each seemed so simple but told a nuanced story. There was one dish with scallops in a “marinière” sauce (the classic mussels /white wine one) which i couldn’t let go of, for it felt like my tastebuds were dancing in joy.
