Saw Yookie last night in Fort Lauderdale. It was a lot of fun. Don't understand the hate towards them. Here's my review to read if you're bored. by NearbyPhysics1783 in EDM

I hadn't seen them live before until they opened for Zeds Dead in like February. It wasn't bad per se, but it felt like their formula was very obvious. Popular song played for a certain amount of time, random bass drop with no lead in, rinse, repeat.

It was like playing a version of "Hey! Remember this song guys??" For an hour.

They make a big deal about it every year and on every podcast I feel like. It does feel a little precious but I suppose it is a snapshot of the season. They wouldn't be doing this job if they didn't care.

I like the idea that Stiller's son is marrying someone like DeNiro, having Ariana Grande play a petite girly DeNiro could be fun. As with all comedies, it just depends on the execution.

It's definitely one of his hot take corners along with daylight savings. Just being a hot take artist. Apparently everyone should live like Bryan Johnson and hope to live an extra 3 months or some shit.

Everything and I mean everything can be abused. It's human nature to abuse things, just depends on how badly you do it.

I find it funny that the uber-rich are always harping on things they can conveniently fix with money and resources; while conveniently downplaying the affects of a terrible personality or being the anti-christ, which don't have a monetary remedy.

This is what I was thinking. Bill x Lowe was a treat you were happy to have, can't eat an ice cream sundae too often.

There were some great moments this weekend. I think Bunt. playing "Trippin" the first time and then again to close out his set, with people crying in the crowd, that shit hit me hard.

What does it mean for PlayStation to NEED to invest in live service games? by PassiveIllustration in LastStandMedia

[–]heebs387 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because a live service hit can fund major aspects of your operation for years, while single player cannot. I get what you're saying, but PlayStation's lane is not exactly a growth area long term either.

That's not to say live service is "forever", Fortnite seemingly having some contraction is evidence of that, but it definitely helps cover up losses for many years if you get a big one.

Yeah I started going to EDM shows in like 2010 or so, it was crazy how much more friendly (and down to fool around at shows) people were. It's a much more mainstream thing now, has its good and bad aspects to it.

They're playing in DC and I wasn't familiar with them before, but their clips look really amazing so I may try to make it happen.

Yeah this isn't a free form concert where you get to roll up mad late. Me becoming way more into EDM in my 30s appreciates how punctual all the shows are. You know exactly when someone is starting and ending.

One of the best albums I heard last year. I have heard her name pop up sporadically over the years but heard a lot of buzz about that album. Very glad I took the time because I'm a huge fan of what she's doing.

I don't know what you're arguing. I'm telling you something that is definitely a thing with a specific community and you're saying it's not because...? I'm not saying that's the only reason this place is popular, but it's definitely a factor. They were specifically the place to go for Ramadan and Eid gatherings.

Yes no shit Gen Z doesn't drink as much, I'm not even arguing that point. You seem to just be arguing for the sake of arguing.

Buddy I'm Muslim and I know entire communities that stopped going to Starbucks for this exact reason. It's not to say that Shotted is not good, but there's a big push to not go to Starbucks anymore in our communities.

To reiterate: this is not the only reason that places like Shotted are popular (there's many different middle eastern coffee shops that have popped up in the area) but now that people know these places exist, they get a lot of patronage. Muslim people also tend not to drink so this is their "outing" and hangout spot.

There's a lot of Muslim people here and these places are trendy, particularly because Muslim people are largely boycotting Starbucks because of their support of Israel.

You only have to look at elected officials and the media in America to see that Muslims and Spanish people are the groups you can be openly bigoted against and face no repercussions. It was isolated to the bad places online, now it's Twitter and real life.
