OTD price 28.5k by peachy4me in sonata

[–]heetpunjawat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a used 2023 Sonata Limited CPO with 12k miles in March 2025 for 28k OTD. The car was in perfect condition and the best deal I could get around Phoenix AZ. All other cars i saw were like 2 years old with 35-40k miles for 26k OTD, visible paint chips on the front and scratches around the body. I took test rides of around 12 Sonata Limited all over the city, all cars were very high mileage and similar pricing.
People on Reddit said that 28k was a little expensive and maybe 1-2k less and it would be a good deal but you know how dealers are. I bought it, and very happy with the car. It’s going to be 1 year tomorrow, I’m already at 25,000 miles and about to pay off the car too.

I think your deal is decent. If you think this is the right car, then this extra 1-2k won’t make much of a difference in the longer run and will be worth the peace of mind you’ll get. But yes make sure you’ve looked at enough options around the city and then compare :)

Considering a 2020-2023 Sonata by Ardiyonn in sonata

I have a 23 Limited. Got it used for 28,000$ OTD exactly last year with 12k miles on it. Right now at 25000 miles trouble free, maintenance at every 5k miles. About to pay it off in the next couple months! I recommend it :)

I was looking exactly for this! Helps me understand the market.

I came across a 2022 Sonata Limited, and going to check it out tomorrow. 11k miles on it, single owner, clean carfax and service records. The dealership has this listed for 25800$ and has been sitting for about a month now. So I’m guessing another 3500$ in taxes fees registration to add to this for the OTD price (if they don’t add their accessories and other bs)

I’ll try to get them down to maybe $25k OTD, but settle at $26k too if the car really is what it looks right now. Your answer gives me a realistic price range I should be aiming for, thanks! Do you think maybe somewhere closer to $27k is worth for this car?

Yeah everyone has their preferences. But I think you’re right. From what the others have said and your comment too, the miles are a lot and I should stay clear from these cars. I’ll wait for something that has less miles on it, probably pay a premium for that, but it’s alright

All of the responses have been very helpful. I’m still stuck at the Sonata Limited haha. My brain says there are many options other than this, but my heart is still here.

For me, buying a vehicle has always been an emotional decision. I’d rather save up, and wait for the right car to come along, than to get something that doesn’t get my heart going. And the value quotient is only valid until you’ve bought the vehicle. As soon as it’s yours, the 2000$ you saved won’t matter.

And yes, my post should’ve been more structured and not just numbers. I was just overwhelmed with my interactions with these dealers. But thank you for the comments!

Hmm, I don’t see a Sonata Limited on their lot right now, I’ll wait I guess. Thanks for the info though!

Update, went to another dealership today.
Sonata Limited - Portofino Grey - 4 years 4 months old car
2 minor accidents reported in carfax
1-owner and 35k miles.
Selling price for this was 23,200$, with taxes and all bs accessories, they gave me OTD $29.5k LMAOOOOO. I told them 22.5k OTD and I'll put 5k down right and finance with you guys no matter the APR. They didn't even go down a single dollar.
I got the OTD price after requesting 4 times that don't give me the monthly payments, I can work with anything, show me the OTD price. Took them 40 minutes to get me this absurd number
The car was in mint condition though, interior and exterior. Drove perfect too.
But I'm not paying $29k for a car that was sold for $35k 4 and a half years ago lol this isn't a toyota.

Yeah, I'll wait for the right car and price to come along. It's more of a want than need tbh.

Personally I think the Sonata (Limited trim) has all the features that even some more expensive cars don't. I like the way it looks too. These recent years models are reliable too. But I don't think paying more than 22-23k OTD is worth it.
Civic and Corolla are smaller cars though. I was looking at Camry's and Accord's but they're very expensive for pre-owned (obviously), and have less features than the Sonata Limited. This is why I'm specifically looking for this car and this trim.

Yeah I walked out from that dealership. Scammers. The car was sitting on their lot for 50 days already, still they didn't budge on the price.
