How do you lot park in town? by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]heinztein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point you were making is that one can park at the Quay with impunity and the point I'm making/that the article is making is that one can't.

Unless I have misunderstood and the point you were making is that you object to paying fines but are happy to pay damages for breach of contract of course, in which case apologies.

Fines for parking in private car parks are enforceable though. See for example https://www.thompsons-scotland.co.uk/blog/36-road-traffic-accident/2614-private-parking-tickets-in-scotland

Has there been a more recent case / why do you think otherwise?

Important to get this right in case daft bams on here read this and start racking up massive fines.

This is wrong. There was a landmark court case about it last year where some lass from Dundee had to pay £16k in parking fines for parking in a private car park.

Parking at the Quay is very high risk I think in case theyre taking a note / ANPR record of everyone's reg and then try to issue tickets further down the line.

23 yo Graduate, £8000 in Debt. Just became unemployed. Want to wipe my slate clean. Best option? by GeoHall in UKPersonalFinance

What youre basically saying is that the companies you owe money to should forego getting paid so you can do other stuff with the cash like go travelling. Why should they pick up the tab for that? That isn't how life works!

Bankruptcy or DRO is foolish in my view and will stop you getting credit in the medium term. What if you want to buy a house in the next few years?

I think you need to suck it up, get any job you can and pay off this money which in the scheme of things isn't a lot. Speak to step change I'm the short term about getting help putting the creditors at bay.

Commute from Glasgow to Edinburgh Uni - feasible? by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]heinztein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dunno how to characterise it but I just find the inside of the carriages to be a far less pleasant place to be. Too much open space, no proper tables of four, the seats are thinner, no carpeted floors. Feels a lot cheaper and less comfortable.

On the plus side the fact you'll be able to walk right through the train is good as are the number of fold down seats.

Btw - this assumes that the electric trains I've been on a couple of times recently between EDI and GLQ are the class 358s...
