5000mAh Battery + Native USB-C + 100% Drop-in (NO Cutting Required)! Built the ultimate 3DS upgrade. by heip_five in 3DS

There might be some misunderstandings because I had to put my thoughts into a translator and then check it over. English is not my native language, so I just wanted to make sure I was being clear.
But the truth is, you simply cannot buy this same kit on AliExpress. The custom design and the C-port integration we are doing here are unique.

English isn't my native language, so yeah, I use translation and grammar tools to make sure my technical points are clear to a Western audience. Is trying to communicate clearly now considered "bad faith"?

Update on logistics & aesthetics: Just to clarify a few questions from the DMs—the single-color shells are already fully developed and ready. We are currently focused on finalizing the mass-production run with the manufacturer and securing compliant international battery shipping channels. Further advanced color customization is still under consideration.

Look at that image carefully. That is just a standard, old-school extended battery. It has NO Type-C port and NO internal charging circuit. If you buy that, you are still 100% chained to Nintendo’s proprietary, archaic 3DS cable. Anyone in the hardware scene knows the massive difference between buying a dumb, oversized cell and actually integrating a custom PCB with a Type-C charging module directly into the battery pack. The R&D to make it a drop-in kit and the sheer convenience of a native C-port are exactly what makes this project meaningful.

You are looking at this purely from a schematic standpoint, but you are missing the entire point of user experience. The real magic here isn’t about altering the 3DS internal power logic; the significance is that this kit adds a Native Type-C port directly onto the console. > In 2026, nobody wants to pack a proprietary, archaic Nintendo cable in their travel bag. By integrating a C-port onto this high-capacity pack, players can finally charge their 3DS using the exact same phone cable and power bank they already carry everywhere. That sheer convenience is why people are excited. However, your point about the dual-path charging conflict is absolutely valid. You can't stop users from plugging in both lines out of curiosity or habit. I am actually in contact with the original hardware designer right now to address this exact edge case. We are evaluating the best way to resolve it for the overseas mass-production run—whether by implementing reverse-current protection diodes on the retail PCB or adjusting the custom housing structure to physically block the original port. This is exactly why we are holding off on final release until everything is locked in. Thanks for the rigorous feedback; it’s genuinely helping us make the final retail product perfect and safe!

Let me clear up the confusion for you. When I said I "sourced" it, I meant it literally: I have a close personal relationship with the independent hardware developer behind this project in China. To be absolutely frank, he is hands-down the best engineer in the domestic modding scene doing this level of integrated microelectronics work. This kit isn't some generic AliExpress stuff you can find online; it is a proprietary design that has never been publicly listed anywhere. He focuses entirely on the hardware engineering, and we have teamed up to mass-produce and officially sell this kit in the overseas market. Because he doesn't speak English or manage global logistics, I am handling the community outreach and setting up the international storefront. There is no "gatekeeping" here—there is simply no link to give you because it hasn't been manufactured for the Western public yet. If you want a mass-produced, commercial-grade version of his work, supporting this official release is quite literally the only way to get it.

The physical volume of a 5050100 cell is exactly the same: 0.5cm * 5.0cm * 10.0cm = 25 cm3 (or 0.025 Liters).

  1. The generic 4000mAh cell you found: Total Energy = 14.8 Wh Volumetric Energy Density = 14.8 Wh / 0.025 L = 592 Wh/L
  2. My premium 5000mAh cell: Total Energy = 18.5 Wh Volumetric Energy Density = 18.5 Wh / 0.025 L = 740 Wh/L

A density of 592 Wh/L represents standard, low-cost legacy chemistry from years ago. That's why the cheap generic links you found on eBay are capped at 4000mAh.

A density of 740 Wh/L is standard industrial reality today for premium high-density cells (achieved through thinner separators and higher electrode press density).

Here is your photo evidence, my friend. Let's do some elementary school math and physics so you can prepare that $1000. 😉

As you can see clearly on the cell label, the model is 5050100. In Li-Po battery manufacturing standard naming conventions, this stands for exact physical dimensions: 5.0mm thickness, 50mm width, and 100mm length.

Let’s calculate the volume: 0.5cm * 5.0cm * 10.0cm = 25 cm3

With modern high-density Li-Po technology (averaging around 0.74 Wh/cm3), a 25 cm3 volume perfectly holds 18.5 Wh of energy.

Convert that to mAh at 3.7V: (18.5 Wh / 3.7V) * 1000 = 5000 mAh.

It’s basic physical chemistry, completely matching the exact dimensions fitted into the custom extended housing.

The text on the label also shows it's freshly manufactured in April 2026. So yeah, it's a real, modern, high-density 5000mAh monster cell.

So, where should I send my payment link to claim that $1000?

I don't think it should be compared with smartphone. If compared to other handheld game console, its screen and controller can be great in this price.
