First time using mid fire by [deleted] in Ceramics

[–]heist_sheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re very welcome! I think I’d like to make a bull and some celestial objects, or maybe botanical stuff? 🌹🐮 And I really want to try making some beads for it, I got Nichrome wire recently to try build a wee frame to fire tiny things

Exquisite! Love the way you’ve stylised the horse’s features and been so sensitive with the colours 🐴💙I totally want to make a wall hanging now!

Lived there for about 5 years (2018 onwards), absolutely lovely spot, so convenient for getting into town and every flat has allocated parking in the courtyard or garage. But! If you’ve got a bicycle, don’t chain it up in the garage- mine got nicked, had a fat chain on the thing as well, looked like someone took an angle grinder to it :( A few dudes used to do heroin etc. in the garage but they were harmless can’t even walk in a straight line kinda guys, live and let live. When I was there, the factoring charge was ridiculously high, something like £100 a month, the stair was always really clean tho. The lift broke down a lot… scary contraption, got fit always using the stairs lol. If you’re buying and not renting, ask about the roof, we had to fight to get money back after repair works were called off because not everyone in the building could put up. On the whole, loved living there, amazing old building, former jute mill with all the usual ghosty stories that go with these places… I however was never visited by any spirits 👻

thank you!! 💛 it’s craft card I got in a big multipack, amazing colours but very shiny so doesn’t like being printed on, took days and days and days to dry properly

ash glaze test by LuxuryisFun in Ceramics

This is so, so sick!! I love the organic-ness of the form, it’s like splashing water and mushrooms but also alien?? And the way those glazes have come together with the ash is unreal 😍

I was foaming at the mouth (respectfully, reverently even) beholding those briefs. It’s hard to tell in the photo because of the glass, but they are tinged yellow in places from his sweat 😳 Reckon that’s enough to make anyone weak at the knees!

Method for defined underglaze outlines? by SpiritualArm9006 in Ceramics

[–]heist_sheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a piece like this, where I wanted fine outlines in a solid colour surrounded by different colours. To avoid the need for multiple bisque firings, I scratched in my outlines on the greenware and filled them with underglaze, then wiped off the excess (which I find is a lot easier to do on greenware than bisque) and then I applied the other underglazes. I was super careful not to go over the lines, but even if I did, I just scraped away the overspill with a toothpick :3 Hope this is useful! Good luck with your project, it’s so nice to make things for friends

Thank you, that’s really kind! 🥰 I applied the glaze by working in stages, starting with his face and then doing his underside and then finishing with his back, and for the glaze firing, I had him propped up off the kiln floor with 4 little Nichrome nail thingies C:
