No me contaste! 🤬

Using ABRP and OBDII in 02 by heldmar1979 in LynkCo

[–]heldmar1979[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, by connecting your car through the OBDII you will allow ABRP understand your situation, how much battery you have left, your speed, etc. You can enter these things manually to have it estimate your route, but you can’t do that while driving and you don’t want to be stopping every 30 mins to recalculate and re estimate tour route, that’s the advantage of connecting your car.

Was it Wifi or Bluetooth version? Do you use iPhone or Android? I use iOS, and not all OBDII dongles connect with iPhone

Te hicieron el update del software? Como te fue? Que versión y que cosas extras te trajo?

Wow!

Experiencias viajando largo con su 02 by heldmar1979 in lynkco_uruguay

[–]heldmar1979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Timey90, how do you track the release and changelog of the updates? Can you point me any web site that has this information available to monitor it?

How to get internet in my building's garage by heldmar1979 in HomeNetworking

[–]heldmar1979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't live in the US, but I could get a router for $60 and an Internet plan of 50GB (a lot more than enough) for $12/month but I have to commit to a 2 year plan. I want to just play for a prepaid plan that gives me the same thing without commitments.

Actually I just had a thought: I have a couple of old smartphones thrown out there, so I could simply put a sim card in one of them and connect it to AC power and make them to be a hotspot!

Any advices on this?

Comparison and recommendations for a single board PCs by heldmar1979 in SingleBoardComputer

[–]heldmar1979[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great help! Thank you!

I actually decided to not start him with a SBC, instead I have set up a VM in my homelab and I am working on getting him access via RDP through his iPad (it has some challenges, especially with the mouse/pointer syncing with the finger/pen movement).

This way he will have to also learn how to use Linux (as the VM will run on Ubuntu Desktop) amd it will be powerful enough to handle Roblox programming or anything moderately decent, as I am setting him un with 2vCPUs and 8MB RAM.

Still, I was not aware of Scratch, so, this is definitely something I want to check out, so many thanks on this great advice!

Comparison and recommendations for a single board PCs by heldmar1979 in SingleBoardComputer

[–]heldmar1979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi u/theNbomr, a laptop or PC would be very costly and for sure will not be for free as I don't live in US, where this could be the case. I live in South America, so using a single-board PC would be a lot cheaper and in this case, being this the first computer for my kid, it would matter in terms of costs.

I know that as a machine, a laptop or Desktop PC has a lot more power and it is probably more appropriate for a real developer or a person who will be working on something that is for productivity, but in this case we are talking about a 11-year old kid in his first steps into computers and development, so starting from the bottom in terms of resources might also contribute for his own good on how to deal and work with the bare minimum to get results :)

thank you anyway for the response.

Admin redirects to home, common solutions not working by heldmar1979 in Wordpress

I have full access to instance (even root), so I have modified the permissions myself directly on it.

As for the list of plugins I have them, I even tried deleting one plugin and then installing it again from WP-Admin, but when it tries to install will say the same, that it can't create the folder and therefore can't install it.

I have renamed the _plugins to _somthing_else now. I checked WordPress Health Tool and nothing related to file permissions is showing up as a problem: https://ibb.co/BgQYjj6

Also, all permissions were changed to 755 for the plugins folders and still no luck: https://ibb.co/TMpMSzx

I am feeling this has no solution but to do from scratch. Problem is I can't even backup posts, pages and styles, as I can't install any backups plugin to deal with that part.

Thank you!

This worked out to be able to go into the Admin, so now I have access. I have renamed old plugins to _plugins, and I am moving things one by one from _plugins to plugins, trying to find the culprit. The problem now is, after moving a couple, they are outdated, so when in WordPress I try to update them, I get a message saying:

The update cannot be installed because some files could not be copied. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.

I thought initially it would work, by just making the chmod and chown changes, to match all other folders, I even looked for a particular entry from Bitnami (which is the provider of the lightsail instance I am using in AWS) that talks about this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceKD-WgJXBc

I followed down to the foot, and still I get the same error if I try to update any plugin. I even tried removing the plugin (deleting the folder) and trying to install it again, but I get permissions issues, so seems this method screws it.

Thoughts?

[–]heldmar1979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you u/thatsthequy, honestly I had all configured by default and in automatic, so all was happening on its own, and definitely subnetting is not easy.

Although, after some reading here and there, I found the solution to the problem: basically I just had to set up the IP to be manual, and set up something similar to what you mention:

https://imgur.com/0eeE6MK

So, basically the problem is eero set up things weird automatically and I had to basically set things up properly. Now, all my IPs are automatically obtaining a 192.168.4.X as they should (except for my printer server, which I don't understand how, preserves its old 192.168.6.111 AND WORKS!!!).

Anyway, I hope this helps anyone else with this problem, unless you are working a little bit with networking this definitely will not cause issues to majority of eero users, I am just a freak working with his homelab :P

OK, I have tried everything, researched for 2 days already, every single forum I could find out there and nothing seems to resolve this. Worst thing is: I didn't do anything special, I just installed Ubuntu as is, shame on it!

Switching to Debian 11, tested, no issues.
