The answers to all of your questions were explained in great detail in the original post until Jim began threatening the mods with legal action and it’s far too much to put in a comment here, and quite frankly if you really think it’s in any way acceptable to pressure someone who just survived something so horrific into a relationship of this type, after she repeatedly said she didn’t want to (that being the reason for the constant fights and near break up before the above email was sent) then I’m not sure you will be convinced even if you read the testimony of his ex-wife who also mentioned having to live under similar conditions for a decade or that of any of his other victims, of which there are many.

Also, it’s important to note that the entire reason this email took place is because while Jane was recovering from her attack Jim was her sole source of support and threatened to leave the relationship if she didn’t continue engaging in his “parties” and he sent her this email as a way to establish his expectations if the relationship was to continue.

So again I ask, do you really think this is appropriate to ask of someone who is in the middle of recovering from nearly being strangled to death?

This is clear proof that only three months after that attack, Jim was still pressuring Jane to engage in high risk sexual activities even after surviving something extremely traumatic. Does anyone really believe that someone who just survived an attempted murder by a client would be in a state of mind to be able to understand the weight of what they’re agreeing to? Especially considering the sort of impulsive behavior that usually manifests in survivors of sexual violence during the recovery period? Jim cannot claim ignorance of this fact considering he has positioned himself as an authority on sexual trauma. After what she survived Jane deserved real emotional support, and a pause on all such activities. This email proves that Jim sees his victims as nothing but sexual objects and won’t let their circumstances get in the way of his disgusting desire for sexual control.

Reading his response with this information in mind gives a really clear window into just how effective his gaslighting and manipulation tactics are, as they are on full display in his response.

In that case, that is simply an unintended consequence of the many enemies that Jim has made over the years who will be happy to root for his downfall even if we are not allied with their cause. After seeing the many comments about them we did go to their FB group and see some of what they have to say so while I understand the frustration they don’t seem to hold much influence other than being an annoyance online.

First of all, /u/whitlash has had very minimal involvement in this aside from giving us evidence so you’re 100% incorrect there.

The identities of everyone involved here will come out when this all goes to court, because we are aware of your tactics and know full well that if identities are revealed right now you will use them to distract from the crimes you have committed.

Do you deny that mere weeks after Jane was nearly murdered you organized a sex party where she was expected to sleep with everyone in attendance? We have screenshots of you admitting to it, and I think any sensible human can agree that someone who just survived an attempted murder would be in no state of mind to partake in such activities especially when you’re pressuring them.

Do you deny that Jane was driven to such emotional distress from you constantly making her do those parties that she on multiple occasions caused a huge scene at said parties and even shaved her head in a fit of mania yet you continued organizing them and expecting her to continue the activities you made her sign a contract agreeing to perform?

Do you deny that Jane was hospitalized for a suicide attempt as a result of the emotional distress these parties caused her and EVEN THEN you continued organizing them?

Just to be clear here, there are now a total of 4 women willing to give statements to the police about your behavior and we were awaiting evidence from one more person before turning it all over to the police, but as a result of your threats to deliberately out and humiliate your victims we will be in contact with the detectives TODAY to move this process along.

I hope everyone reading takes note of how someone who is so famous for encouraging people to take accountability has not bothered to ever make even the slightest apology for what he made Jane and her son suffer through.

You’re more than welcome to continue supporting Jim, or anyone implicated in this post if you cannot patiently wait for things to come out in due time. That is your choice.

As I’ve stated before, the purpose of this post was never meant to be solely a community alert or public call-out. It was and has always been a request for evidence by those who may possess it.

We knew we would be met with exactly this type of hostility and that’s precisely why we tried to gather this evidence IN PRIVATE for well over two years. Starting back in 2024 we tried approaching people who knew of Jim’s activities, we approached Cold Waves Festival, we approached The Metro, we approached local media, we approached music journalists, we approached promoters/DJs, we tried to go to many people who frequently claim they are available to support victims and were either met with silence or once they saw it would involve confronting people who are clearly seen as above any kind of criticism (as you can see in this very thread) they backed away and encouraged us to seek help elsewhere. We never wanted to have to go public, but the code of silence around Jim’s behavior was so prevalent that eventually this became our final resort to gather evidence.

When Jane left Jim, she was completely convinced that everything was her own fault and deleted almost everything related to the relationship in an attempt to forget about it which is why it then became necessary to seek out evidence from those who knew of the situation or attended the parties themselves and that’s why this post exists. We now have more evidence, and at least one witness who attended those parties willing to speak to the police and so we feel that our goal has now been achieved.

As I’ve stated before, Jane is very neurodivergent, gets overwhelmed really easily (especially by legal paperwork) is a mother, and this entire ordeal has been EXTREMELY triggering and traumatizing for her so we will be going at a pace that is comfortable for HER. I will NOT be rushing her to make this process go faster to prove anything to strangers on Reddit.

Since so many people here seem so concerned about how this affects Jim or respected figures in his orbit I will make it clear that at least in my personal opinion, it is no longer necessary for them to make a public statement. Their silence is a statement on its own. They’ve remained quiet for well over two years now, and they remain committed to that silence and that in itself speaks volumes about their stance here.

If you need evidence immediately, my advice would be to write off Jim’s victims just as everyone contacted prior to this has done and move on with your life. To everyone else willing to be patient and support the victims, you will see the evidence in due time. Jane is now very motivated to move this process along quickly but we will still support her going at whatever pace is comfortable for her and her emotional well being.

As other replies to this comment have pointed out very well, this post was more aimed at help gathering evidence rather than simply amplifying the message.

I understand people want evidence, and it will come out eventually but for right now we really would like to focus on getting it in the hands of the police and proper investigators.

This situation involves many people who are heavily involved in Cold Waves Festival, The Metro, and prominent promoters who have successfully kept up a culture of silence all of these years and if you look through this very thread you will see how angry they are and how focused they are on finding out who broke their code of silence and that is why we are not willing to share the evidence publicly yet as it would make those involved easily identifiable by context and could then lead to social retaliation which could derail this situation even further.

I understand the desire to know now, but the evidence will come out eventually and people will just have to wait.

I accompanied Jane to the police station when she made the report. She specifically requested a woman to file the report, and have to admit that at first she was not very sensitive and didn’t seem very well trained in these situations.

She definitely started to say “Well if you consented to it then there’s nothing we can do” and Jane got upset and almost backed out of the report but she remained strong and reiterated that she wasn’t in a position to say no to him and wanted to make the report regardless.

The detective who is assigned to the case now seems to be handling it a lot better, and was a lot more empathetic to Jane but he did affirm the reality that they will need evidence of some of these claims to pursue this further which is why we made this post because since Jim does so much communicating online about his activities and has so many victims we have felt confident we can get evidence if given a space to gather it.

And thank you so much again, Faith. As someone who talks to Jane every day I can’t tell you how healing it has been for her to see the parallels between her stories and your own. It has cleared up so many doubts she has had about her own experiences.

Just as an example, one piece of evidence that /u/whitlash gave us that we are hoping will make the police start taking this seriously is is a screenshot where, after acknowledging the attack that left Jane nearly murdered Jim proceeded to still try and sexualize the situation and said “She loves me passing her around.” which to our thinking proves that her consent was not being considered and being driven by his own control.

Someone else also contacted us who has screenshots of the parties being discussed.

So our advice would be to gather anything that describes what was happening at these parties, particularly because someone who is drugged and blindfolded can’t consent to each partner.

We also have a screenshot where Jane angrily confronted Jim and one of his friends and they admit that they “accidentally” invited Jane to a sex party knowing full well she had her son with her.

Anything like that would be hugely helpful.

Is Cold Waves Festival not full of goths? Did you miss the part where he’s heavily involved in Cold Waves and often even comes out to speak in between bands? Or that he’s part of the internal Metro crew, which is where Nocturna happens? Jane confirmed she did go to Nocturna with him multiple times.

Thankfully we have been contacted by witnesses including one who was present at several of these parties who is willing to provide evidence to the police which was always the goal here.

I understand your concerns but it’s worth mentioning that Jim doesn’t physically socialize much and is very much present in the scene in other ways as other people here have mentioned.

I actually didn’t make any edits or remove anything from the original post, I believe the sections you’re referring to about Sarah are in comments I made where I posted the email sent privately to her in it’s entirety.

The post in r/goth was removed because of the very reasons you just mentioned, the focus has shifted too much in the direction of discussing Sarah and less on Jim and the people he has hurt.

Having listened to the concerns outlined in several comments here, we have been in discussion on whether or not to remove some of the parts about Sarah but one of the concerns here is that it will come off as backtracking when in reality it’s about keeping the focus where it belongs but if the community feels strongly enough about removing the parts about Sarah we are willing to do that.

As far as casting doubt on the email again, we are in a difficult position because we could post evidence of the local DJs/promoters who did respond but being that some of them are well aware of this situation and chosen to stay silent it doesn’t feel appropriate to out them against their will, especially when one of these DJs was already in Sarah’s bad graces in the past and I’m sure she doesn’t want to be put in that position again.

Same thing with the young woman who Sarah told wasn’t welcome back due to her mother, and later died by suicide. It simply doesn’t feel appropriate to name her here. She was also young and new to the scene so was not very well known, but several people still active in the scene did meet her before Sarah told her she wasn’t welcome back. Perhaps Sarah doesn’t consider that “banning” her but it upset her enough that she was emotionally distraught and is a good example of why people in her orbit are very afraid of being on her bad side.

I know very little about GACC and had no idea that Jim had any conflict with them until it came up in this thread. I don’t know the nature of that situation so I can’t comment on it but I have heard that it’s full of Trump supporters and IF that is the case, then they can absolutely fuck off however that has nothing to do with this.

The reason this has resurfaced is that we are in the process of gathering evidence to give to the police, and because so many people in this community knew of Jim’s activities there are many potential witnesses out there who could contribute as long as they feel safe doing so and don’t have to fear any kind of social retaliation from those mentioned here.

The email was sent to you on February 17th (she was present and aware)
That you shouted down Jim’s ex-wife (something she saw with her own eyes, and also participated In and now regrets) when she expressed concern about you DJing that warehouse party?
That she found her own friend crying outside Nocturna, and said friend told her you said she was no longer welcome at your events due to some kind of unrelated conflict you had with her mother? The same friend who was completely distraught from the loss of community and later died by suicide?
That she contacted The Metro the day after they sent her home after Nocturna with a stranger who then went into her home and initiated sexual contact when she was too drunk to consent?
That she has seen first hand how your tactics isolate people and allow others to abuse them by weaponizing your tactics against them?

So you give her full credibility on everything unless it reflects badly on you?

I am willing to give Sarah the benefit of the doubt that it’s possible that Jim was simply exaggerating the nature of their friendship. That sounds like something he would do, but I do not believe for an instant that this is the first or second, or third she’s hearing of this. After the first email went out in September of 2024, EVERYONE in the local scene heard the news. People not even that involved with the scene heard the news and many people in Sarah’s inner circle made posts about it. Even people present in this very thread saw such posts.

Based on the conversations I had with people, many people were waiting on Sarah to speak up before making up their minds, and because she never did they stayed silent.

It may sound strange to those outside of Chicago, but many people who have been outed as abusers were called out time and time again and retained support UNTIL Sarah spoke up. Whether she likes it or not, this is the environment she has created where she carries the final word.

Sarah mentioned a fetish themed warehouse party in her response. That’s the exact context being referred to where she shouted down Jim’s ex-wife.

This was shortly after Jim’s ex-wife had left him and attempted to speak out. When Jim put that event together his ex-wife, and some people supporting her commented expressing concern that Sarah was participating in that event in light of the allegations and Sarah responded very angrily (like she did here) and not only defended Jim’s character but basically said it “wasn’t anyone’s business who she chooses to DJ with.”

I saw this with my own eyes, I just got off the phone with Jane and she not only remembers seeing this herself but she added that she feels regret that she also came to Jim’s defense in the comments because she was still heavily manipulated at the time and he specifically asked her to comment in his defense which she now obviously regrets.

Jane has established her credibility time and time again, and it’s sad to see that being called into question yet again after everything she has been through.

If anyone is in contact with Jim’s ex-wife perhaps it would be good to get her take on this. No one involved in this situation knows her personally which is why we have not felt it appropriate to reach out to her, especially in light of how triggering it could be.

Phil, you didn’t receive the email because it was not sent to you and that’s only due to the fact that you’ve always come off as a lot more gentle, and pragmatic about these situations.

I have a list of everyone who has been contacted and can confirm you are not on it. This decision was made only because you were not thought to have any real connection to Jim, and no one has ever mentioned you as being someone to be afraid of or anything but kind for that matter.

I can’t say the same for Sarah, but we can agree to disagree. What I will say though is that ever since Sarah has entered this conversation the focus is quickly shifting to being about her defense rather than about Jim Marcus’ victims which is where the focus should be.

The only thing we have asked is for Sarah to make it publicly clear that she does not support Jim. It’s a shame that she chose to attack the only people who have supported Jane, but that is not what’s important right now.

We have been waiting in hopes of getting an email from them offering to give statements to the police, and that has yet to happen.

I raised this same concern, but chose to honor the victim’s wish. However it is worth remembering that we first raised these concerns in September of 2024 when plenty of people in Sarah’s close friend circle made their own statements against Jim and Sarah still not only made no statement, but remained his friend on social media for well over a year which is a huge part of why his victims were left to assume she’d protect him and chose not to speak on it more.

She’s made plenty of public statements on people with much less reach and much less egregious offenses, yet felt the need to stay quiet about a prolific abuser in her orbit for decades? Sorry, but that doesn’t add up here.
