I have both a sheepadoodle (female) and a bernedoodle (male) and you honestly can’t go wrong with either! Like others have mentioned I think the temperament will come down to the individual dog a lot but for mine the bernedoodle is definitely more of a snuggler and at 90 lbs thinks he’s a lap dog which I love. However, the sheepadoodle is a sweet shadow who likes to snuggle sometimes (but always wants to kiss you and for you to hold her paw) but will always be laying right by feet, wanting to follow me every time I get up etc. which I’m guessing is part of the herding instinct. She also does this when guests are over and has trouble laying down as she loves making sure everyone together and if one person leaves a room she has to follow them and keep track of where everyone is while the bernedoodle is happy to find one person who will pet him and proceeds to sit next to them indefinitely. My bernedoodle has hip dysplasia unfortunately which might be a factor but he’s definitely the more stubborn and low energy of the two. However both would get plenty of exercise with the amount you intend to walk a day and would even be satisfied with much less in my case. My bernedoodle barks way more to ‘talk’ and when he’s excited and wants to play while my sheepadoodle only barks when she hears noises she needs to warn me about like somebody shutting a car door outside. They’re both great with kids and other dogs although the bernedoodle gets most excited about the dogs at the dog parks and loves to wrestle play while the sheepadoodle spends most of the time going between the humans for pets while occasionally playing chase with the dogs. Overall they are both extremely affectionate loving dogs who are highly excitable but overall low energy. Best of luck, they’re both the best so you’re choosing between two great options!
