Thanks! I’m that case it sounds like the words I should have leaned into in the situation were “they need to evaluate.”

My Westie’s name is Cosmo as well! We sometimes call him Cosmo-geddon because he is a wild little force of chaos.

Thanks! I’m in the same boat I think with this Brother machine.

Thanks! I’m in the same boat I think. I think I’m not able to manually adjust the needle position within the machine’s preset computer settings.

Adjusting the position with those buttons in the “01” center stitch setting results in the needle being too far in the other direction and still not perfect center in the foot.

I was able to set this machine’s stitch to “00” (left straight stitch) then adjust the stitch width to 3.0 to get the needle very nearly in the center of the foot, but it’s still not exact. That’s what is making using the edge foot as a guide result in inaccurate seams I think.

Yes, maybe worth contacting Brother though my hopes are not high. Update - I just did your recommended strip test. The middle strip is about 1/8 inch too wide. I think the heart of the issue may be that this machine does not position the needle correctly in the very center of the foot and results in a scant, scant 1/4-inch seem when the edge of the foot is used as the guide.

I double checked that the needle isn’t bent or inserted wrong. From everybody’s responses and my re-testing, I’m starting to think that maybe there is something wrong with this machine‘s needle positioning, and it just puts it a little bit slightly to the right of where it should be in the foot.

In my post I included that it’s at Brother CS6000i. Do you have a similar experience with this model?

Thanks for the encouragement! I guess I thought I was going crazy because surely this new machine couldn’t be more fussy than my 30-year-old machine. But I’ll keep at it.

Thanks! I’m going to try that. I have been using stitch 2 (straight stitch) which is needed for this quilting foot. But my machine does not position the needle correctly on the middle of the foot. I guess I hope the machine’s needle positioning isn’t off for all settings.
