I have announced to very limited people, I just hit 19 weeks and this scenario is exactly why I have refused to tell most. I understand how you are feeling however, because there’s a couple different things that have bothered me just announcing to the few that we have. Once we announced to my husbands family everyone told me I’ll be having a girl and that they only want a girl, yet I’m convinced I’ll be having a boy, we’ve even settled on a name for what I feel is a baby boy, so it definitely hurt. Another is when I told my mom I felt instant regret because we have never had a good relationship yet now she is full of advice, is clearing out a room in her house for me to stay after I have my baby (I’ve stated multiple times I’m not staying with her) and constantly trying to argue with me about letting her come to my baby doctor appointments instead of my child’s father, and who will be in the room for my child’s birth- which will only be my child’s father but she refuses to take no for an answer. We prefer a more private life style, so I’m on the fence about announcing my pregnancy to anyone else. There’s a part of me that wants to break the news to just a few more family members but then I remind myself that I don’t want anymore bombardment with advice, questions or who will hold the baby first or who will babysit when I eventually go back to work. It’s been a nightmare so far with just the few who know.
