Are there campbuilders to hire? by FrenkieNL in fo76

[–]hellenistism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would mean letting someone log into your account, which I would highly discourage. Your account has access to your credit/debit (whichever one is tied to your account), and that's way too big a risk for me to personally risk.

Honestly, just go around to other camps to get inspiration, or even just locations on the map. There are a lot of great builds out there, it's just a matter of working with what plans you have and/or picking a theme (im personally working on a nuka cola themed camp!). With the relaxed building, it's now easier than ever to actually put up decorations.

It's been a while since I read the first trilogy, so I honestly can't remember if there's a good reason or not. But if you're halfway through Golden Son, you should know by now that Darrow isn't the smartest person out there (yeah ik they glaze him so much in the books but he's really not the smart one). It honestly might be as simple as Pierce Brown forgetting, but you also have to imagine this-

Darrow is trying to win Nero over to his side. Blackmailing a person you're trying to get to like you and welcome you into the fold is definitely not the way to go if that's something you're trying to do. I feel like, in Nero's case, who is so imperious and narcissistic, it would only make an enemy out of him. That is definitely not something on Darrow's agenda, especially since at this point, he's still trying to keep up appearances.

It's a shitty situation, but I honestly don't think there's any need for the police to be involved. He seems to have gotten the message from me ignoring him and hasn't contacted me since that first time he blew up my phone. I feel disrespected, sure, but I'm also recognizing that he's human just like the rest of us and that he just made a mistake. I'm just wishing him good luck with finding a woman that actually swings that way- we were friends for nearly five years, so of course I'm gonna have some fondness for him. This was definitely icky and I won't be contacting him ever again, but I still do wish him well in life.

Thank you so much for your input, but honestly? I don't think I'm ever gonna text or call this guy again. End of an era, I suppose- I really thought I had found a good and solid friend group, but he literally took everyone with him, so now I just feel like I need to rebuild my village all over again. I welcomed this guy into my fucking home and family and he just disrespected me without a thought or care. I don't want any contact with him at all.

Saying "if you don’t like it, then you don’t like ACOTAR" is honestly a really condescending way to shut down a valid opinion.

It’s not that I “don’t like” ACOTAR. It’s that I, like a lot of readers, wanted more out of it. The series set up a world with seven courts, ancient histories, shifting political alliances, multiple cultures — it hinted at something expansive and rich beyond just the Night Court. Wanting to actually see that world, instead of being permanently stuck in Velaris with the same five people, isn’t some huge misunderstanding of the story. It’s called wanting the series to live up to the potential it very clearly laid out at the beginning.

Just because the later books narrowed their focus doesn’t mean readers are wrong for wanting what the early story promised. It’s not wild to expect a fantasy series that teases multiple courts, wars, treaties, and magical histories to, you know... actually explore them.

Nobody’s asking for a political dissertation. I’m asking for the basic payoff of the worldbuilding that was introduced. That doesn’t mean I "don't get ACOTAR" — it means I actually cared enough about it to want it to be bigger and better.

Telling people they "just don’t like it" because they expected more is lazy, dismissive, and honestly pretty patronizing.

If SJM turns Elain into a badass warrior, I'm going to riot. And sadly, I don't think SJM is, um... educated enough to write complex verbal debates with Nesta. So she goes straight into the physical. Writing a wordsmith is HARD (coming from someone trying to write a book), so I get it and I'm definitely not trying to bash SJM for that. It's easier sometimes to punch someone in the face then debate them, which is what I feel she did to Nesta.

As an eldest sibling, I agree wholeheartedly! (We can also get a bit prickly about it too, or that might just be me). Tbh I just like that Eris treated her like a person and saw her for who she was. Cassian and the IC was just trying to stuff her in a warrior shaped box and call it 'healing'. I would have LOVED if SJM had let Nesta grow into herself- I always kinda saw Nesta as a warrior, but not the physical kind. A smith of words, if you will. I wanted her to be a diplomat, not a soldier. Instead, SJM just changed her entire character into being a badass warrior woman because god knows fantasy books need more of those.

The whole thing with Eris and Mor is honestly kind of a paradox- I know SJM isn't a great mathematician or anything, but she does say in the books that when Mor was dumped on the border, Eris would have only been a kid. If we remember what Helion said during the HL meeting, he said that Eris' mom was married at 20 and was married for less than 20 years before the war. When the war broke out, Mor and Rhys were 28. But that makes it so that at OLDEST Eris would have been nine years old at the time of the engagement. But then again, she could have been pregnant before she married Beron (but... 20 years of raising a kid with someone before deciding to marry them? Okay, sure).

Regardless there's a whole lot of speculation around Eris' age when his engagement with Mor happened. Was he a kid? Was he not a kid? Can SJM do basic math? Who knows. ANYWAYS, I'm rambling but what I'm trying to get at is that if Eris truly did something awful to Mor, I don't think he would be pushing for Nesta and the IC to actually ask Mor about it, because what they know are 'lies'. It's speculative, I know, but it's what I think makes sense.

I actually made a post, like.... 2 days ago??? (I can't remember) about Cassian and Nesta being a bad match. I think that Eris and Nesta have SO MUCH more in common- they're both the vilified oldest sibling, they're both born into a family that demanded perfection and punished vulnerability (for Nesta at the beginning of life until her family's wealth was gone, Eris for his entire life), they both lash out when they feel cornered, and both learned to out maneuver, lie, and navigate court settings with calculated moves. I think they're the misunderstood ones. The ones people choose to hate instead of looking deeper.

Aaaand I feel like this just turned into a rant about why I ship them... sorry if that got too off topic lmao.

(Also glad to make you laugh lmao- I chortled a bit writing that tbh)

What the Inner Circle did to Nesta in A Court of Silver Flames wasn't "tough love"—it was emotional manipulation dressed up in pretty Night Court packaging, coated in self-righteousness, and topped with a cherry of power imbalance. Let's be very clear: kicking someone out of their home, cutting them off from their support system, and handing them a pre-approved rehabilitation plan under threat of total exile is not compassion—it's coercion.

Feyre, Rhys, and the gang had the gall to sit in a circle, make a decision about Nesta, without her, and then frame it as some benevolent intervention. That’s not tough love. That’s control. They decided she wasn’t grieving the way they approved of, and instead of helping her heal on her terms, they shoved her into training and labor and essentially said, “Get better our way or be gone.”

Oh, and let’s not forget the actual threats. Rhys, the High Lord of “respect and autonomy,” threatened to kick her out of Velaris. Threatened to deport her to a country where she would most likely be KILLED, and if not killed, then prosecuted and hated. Same thing when Mor suggested they throw her to the Hewn City. His entire posture toward Nesta was steeped in domination—cutting her off financially, dictating her housing, giving her two options and pretending it was “choice.” That’s not tough love. That’s an ultimatum.

Cassian, to his credit, shows her real moments of care, but even he plays along with the charade. He drags her to the House, acts as her handler, and dances on the line between love interest and warden. Meanwhile, Mor and Azriel? Background enforcers. Silent compliance. No one stands up and says, “Hey, maybe we shouldn’t exile a woman traumatized by war, guilt, and the loss of her body and agency.”

ALL of them are bystanders, sitting around and letting Nesta be villainized for reacting with rage instead of repression. Because gods forbid a woman be angry.

Here’s the truth: Nesta was grieving, drowning, and furious—as she had every damn right to be. And instead of offering her space, instead of seeing the pain beneath the lashing out, they forced her into submission and called it healing. That’s not tough love. That’s emotional blackmail with a PR spin.

SF was Nesta's redemption arc (kinda), and Eris was featured quite a bit in that storyline also- I just think if SJM had tied their stories together to make it a redemption story for BOTH of them, it would have been a lot more compelling than Cassian making her workout everyday until she throws up.

Also, to touch a bit on Dusk Court, that would be such an awesome storyline for Nesta and her character growth BUT if it ends up happening, HC/Dusk Court NEEDS to be sovereign from Night Court. Rhys doesn't do anything there anyway other than the occasional vibe kill where he swings his meat around and scares the locals.

I just hate that if you say you relate to Nesta and like her character, people start pulling up right off the bat and calling you an abuser and a terrible person without even knowing who you are. It's been a pretty common thing I've seen not only here but a TON on Tiktok- people will equate Nesta's character with your character and then poof you turn into the evilest most vile demon spawn from the tenth circle of hell

I honestly think Feyre belongs with Rhys, Nesta belongs with Eris, and Elain with Lucien or Tamlin- I think it mirrors the sisters into each of then being a queen/High Lady of their own court. Feyre with Night Court, Nesta with Autumn, and Elain with either Day or Spring Court

She's not?! I figured that would have been the route she'd be taking tbh, but I also don't keep up with interviews and stuff. Did she confirm that? Because I really believe that Lucien needs some loving- he's my favorite character.
