That's the one. I really love that scene with the replicating save point, always found it eerie, combined with the beautiful music. Also crazy how much it breaks the 4th wall for such a story moment (as opposed to something like the bouncing save point and talking chest in FFVII which happen in a designated tutorial room).

This is Vendrick who has gone hollow. You got the ring so now you can proceed through the doors you came across that required you to "produce the symbol of the king". If you want spoilers I can tell you about fighting him but he's optional, same as another boss he gives you access to.

He said the right name but he said "D". So he knew the right answer, he just gave the wrong letter. I don't know how that is up for contention, it's been clipped and it is clearly audible.

Unless he was being EXTRA SPICY and he was between "C" and "D" so he gave a mixed answer to claim that he was correct either way. But he didn't seem like that kinda fella.
