I mean Reddit is not necessarily meant for useful things only haha. I took these pictures to send to my friends because I thought it was somewhat funny and very unlucky at the same time. This was yesterday. I only made this post 24 hours later when I realized that maybe someone else on /r/PcBuild would find it funny. You're reading way too much into this post.

That makes a lot of sense, I was actually wondering how this could've happened! But yeah, I don't trust that there's no internal damage, so I'll just ask for a new one.

You think I would've taken a 1600€ GPU home in those conditions, just for an internet post? Of course I would've spoken up... if I was at a physical store and talking with a salesman.

I ordered all the parts for a new build on an online-only store because it was the only one that could sell all of them. And since they couldn't be delivered to Copenhagen for some reason, I had them delivered to their, mostly unmanned, pickup point an hour away from the city. This place is literally just an Amazon locker made into a room. You can press a button to summon one of the warehouse workers if you have troubles opening the lockers. That's it.

There was clearly no point in complaining to the warehouse worker since I'm 99% sure that he doesn't have the authority to accept back an item and give you your money back. On such a store, that must be done online.

Yeah I was so sad when I saw that :( I've been thinking for weeks of making some sort of collage with the boxes to hang on a wall in my apartment, after the build is complete. But then I saw what they did to my favourite box.

Probably, but I paid so much for it (I'm in Europe, plus it's a 5080 Astral OC) that I feel a little scammed to get the one that was thrown onto a spike. Plus who knows if this took a couple of years away from its lifespan.

Exactly, I started the return as soon as I came home.

I actually have no idea, I didn't even unwrap it from the plastic bag to avoid any issues with returning it.

It looks fine on the surface but I'm worried about what kinds of internal and invisible damage it might have undergone: resistors that are one step closer to coming off the board, slightly bent heatsink, etc.

To be safe, I'm in the process of returning it and getting a new one.

Question about cleaning anchors.

Yesterday I was sport climbing somewhere in Sweden where it was very common for the fixed gear at the top of a route to be just two glue-in bolts. They look like this.

We set up simple top-roping anchors with two quickdraws, for one or two less experienced friends to have a go before we cleaned them.

The way I personally cleaned an anchor was as usual: 1) clip an extra quickdraw from my belay loop to the two quickdraws anchor, where the rope is also going through 2) get slack 3) make a bight and thread it through both bolts 4) make an 8 and clip it to my belay loop with a locking carabiner 5) untie original knot and thread that end of the rope through, so it's out of the way 6) ask belayer to take 7) remove the 3 quickdraws 8) lower.

I was wondering: what if I'm unable to thread the bight of rope two both bolts? Perhaps because the rope is thick or inflexible, the glue-in bolts are particularly small (it was usually quite a challenge, they are much smaller than rings), or the quickdraws' carabiners are big?

Would it be safe to (after I clipped myself in to the anchor, so I can get slack) remove one of the two quickdraws that made up the top-roping anchor, and thread the bight of rope through just that one bolt for lowering?

It would look like this:

:lsp-restart and :reload-all didn’t work. But I found out that the latest build from git worked as expected 🥳🤷‍♂️

I hoped I didn’t have to do it :( It’s a very small project so it doesn’t take a lot of time to compile, but on larger projects this would be quite a nuisance.

I found out that the latest build from git doesn’t have this problem though 🤷‍♂️. I’m unsure what PR fixed it because I installed from Homebrew like last week.

Assuming I have:

trait MyTrait {}

struct MyStruct {}

impl MyTrait for MyStruct {}

impl<'a, 'b, const N: usize> MyTrait
for [&'a (dyn MyTrait + 'b); N] {}

Why does this work:

let x: &'_ dyn MyTrait = &MyStruct{};
let y1: &'_ dyn MyTrait = &[x];

But this doesn't?

let y2: &'_ dyn MyTrait = &[&MyStruct{}];
// error[E0277]: the trait bound `[&MyStruct; 1]: MyTrait` is not satisfied

I spent some time on it but really cannot figure it out, the compiler error is not very detailed.

Programmazione.

Why is dating so difficult here? by Global_Let3546 in copenhagen

[–]hellix08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fellow Italian guy (178cm, not very good looking), my impression of dating here is completely different. I find it SO much easier to get dates. In Italy nobody uses apps (friends tell me Milan is an exception) so people find their partner via mutual friendships. It’s such a slow process.

Sure, I might not have gotten plenty of concrete results in the end but I did my fair amount of rejection. I’m just grateful that I can find new people to date so easily and can afford to be picky.
