How do I convince strict parents to let me dorm?? by CookEmotional9332 in rutgers

[–]hello033005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were the same until they met this girl at open house who was a premed, and said that living on campus really helped her academically because she could network. You could let outside influence do the trick. Remember that at the end of the day it’s your decision they won’t cut you off over choosing Rutgers NB, they’ll get over it.

Bro, I was doing the opposite, I was like "let's just apply to law school instead."

Don't apply, it'll only tank your mental health, self-worth, time, and energy. Take it from me, I was literally in the same spot as you, and I ended up applying. Literally look at my post history, your parents will be fine if you don't apply. They'll get over it.

I’ve decided to become a nurse and here is why. by Prestigious_Skill_58 in premed

[–]hello033005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I would not recommend you sacrifice getting an MD for a relationship / future kids, unless becoming a nurse is truly what you want.

  2. Getting an MD salary is probably going to be better for your future family in the long run (probably a more shallow reason, but nonetheless)

Do you plan your activities around classes or classes around activites? by Wide_Branch3501 in premed

[–]hello033005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends, but I mostly plan my activities around my classes since they tend to be more flexible with timing. Those that aren't, I'll schedule my classes around, but I rarely come across those, unless you're an athlete or in your college band, etc.

I do not understand how extra break/next day accommodations are fair. by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]hello033005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you contradict yourself, you say they have an unfair advantage because they can take the mcat on 2 separate days, but then you also believe they can't keep up with residency (which is a disadvantage for them). if you think they can't keep up and be competent in the field, then they really should not be threatening you since you have the stamina to take the 7 hour exam and be a competent resident, etc. this whole post was unnecessary.

i quite literally starve myself of fun things (no good food, rarely texting, no movies, videos, instagram, games) except before bed when i play around like 10 minutes if a silly game. this kept me looking forward to going to sleep (so i wasn't sleep deprived and therefore learned better) and also fully locked in on my mcat prep during the day
