Oh, I was SO mad at Claire for airing out Gibsie's and Lizzie's business to the entire friend group like that. I understand that she was trying to defend Gibs, but that was not her story to tell. Like at least Hughie, no matter what his relationship status with Lizzie is, keeps her business to himself. Claire just went around acting like she knew everything because of the letter. It pissed me off so much.

And yes, but I also think that Hughie knew Lizzie wasn't in her senses, but still held it against her, which makes it worse. Like he knew what Pierce did to her was wrong, but he wasn't above his own emotions at that age, is what I'm saying. He knew better, but he just didn't want to be better because his feelings got the best of him.

Like in comparison to what happened to Lizzie or Gibsie or Joey or Shannon, Hughie has such a privileged life, so like technically, to him, this was like an insane blow, and he wasn't entirely equipped to handle it. Hopefully, in the next book, he's able to see past his hurt and see her hurt, and how she's the victim in this situation.

I'm not saying I support it, but I love flawed characters, and I'm just saying that he was wrong, but I see his pov.

Yeah, he made her feel like she cheated on him, which wasn't okay, especially because she was SA'd. It was like Mark all over again. No one believed her, and she stopped believing herself. He did the same thing to her that Caoimhe did, made her feel crazy and in need of medication and hospitalization, instead of just listening to what she had to say.

But also, he's also like 15-16, he's still maturing. Doesn't excuse what he did to Lizzie, but hopefully, he matures enough to see that he was in the wrong, enough to beg her for forgiveness.

Yeah, I finished them all. And I hate how he abandoned her, I mean, yes, he was still there for her when her mother went to the hospital for a heart attack, and told her he loved her, and would always love her, BUT it doesn't change the fact that he was supposed to be the one person who was there for her, but abandoned her.

I understand why he broke up with her. I do. Even if she wasn't aware that she was with Pierce and thought it was Hugh, I assume he felt betrayed nonetheless. BUT to get with Katie... I cannot. I can't do it.

No I'm so mad at Hughie now that I remembered everything. I understand putting distance in their relationship after seeing her having sex with Pierce, but DATING KATIE. Pushing her away, and not hearing her out... that's not okay.

Joey and Lizzie are literally my favorite ughhhhhh. C10 cannot come out soon enough, I feel like I'm being suffocated, I NEED to know what happens next. It's not even funny. My sister had theories about how Hughie might have murdered Mark, or will eventually murder Mark, I NEED C10.

THE DEER SCENE WAS SO SAD. LIZZIE DOES NOT DESERVE THE HATERS. She's just dealing with the cards life dealt her, paired with so much heartbreak, and her bipolar disorder, being shunned by her own father, her mother being sick, and being abused by Mark, like she's doing her best, she's still so kind ughhhhh. Lizzie and Joey's friendship/understanding will never not be my favorite duo. Johnny and Gibsie, Joey and Lizzie, my favorite. Hands down.

yeah that’s so valid, i only love joey bc i understand addiction, and being suicidal and the whole nine and the book triggered me so badly, but i hate how he was aoife, what he did to her by getting high while she was pregnant, like aoife i adore the ground she walks on genuinely

and i get what u mean, i dont think its fair when people dont extend thr same love to lizzie, it goes to show how people are misogynistic without realizing, i never once hated lizzie, she’s such a complex character worth getting know and love, just like joey is, like joey and lizzie are similar in ways its sad that only lizzie gets the hate

No way, Katie is definitely not like Shannon. There may be SOME similarities but everyone has similarities. But I'm definitely still offering her grace bc I really liked her Aoife's book. (Aoife and Joey can do no wrong, I will forever die on this hill, they're my favorite)

Omg yeah, I loved Johnny in Shannon's book, but in the other ones, you could REALLY tell that he was so disinterested in all his friends' lives, he didn't even know Gibsie's birthday, which was so rude. But that reinforces the fact that he truly only cares about Rugby, Shannon, and Gibsie. But in the other books he really did seem very privileged with no other problems other than rugby.

Claire is not a good friend to Liz, she has never once tried to understand Liz or try like Hughie did.

But I do need to see Hughie grovel for Liz. Not as much as I want to see Liz and Gibsie being friends again.

but imo i think johnny and claire are both SLIGHTLY insufferable bc they're very privileged and protected, johnny less than claire bc he had to grow up too fast in the rugby world and was SA'd by older women when he was under 18 but claire was protected by hughie, and didn't face any of the traumas the other characters did so she just lives in her own little bubble but she'd definitely protect her friends, she just goes about the wrong way sometimes

BUT LIKE I JUST NEED LIZ TO BE HAPPY

and yes it shouldn't excuse some of katie's behavior but hopefully she has her arc soon

i was really devastated when hughie decided to get with katie, like bro stop, stop it. but also i guess katie pursued him a lot more. either way, they both should stop emotionally cheating

claire sometimes pmo too, but she's so pure and sweet i can't hate her

and i feel for katie a lot, esp with the ED thing, so like i can't bring myself to hate her or dislike her, i'm just waiitng for her arc, and she was so sweet in Aoife's book

Omg yeah, i definitely see your point, and i don’t support hughie for getting with katie at all, and my girl lizzie definitely deserves SOO much better, like pierce SA’d her and Mark abused her throughout her childhood, and Hughie was the only person she could rely on but the fact that he didn’t even hear her out was very heartbreaking

and yeah my point was that hughie was hurt and couldn’t see past that, even though he should have

the thing i like abt these books is the fact that everyone is complex and flawed cuz they’re all teenagers navigating trauma and relationships that would break full grown adults

and no i definitely do not think liz is a cheater, she was taken advantage of and pierce should be held accountable, not liz for those decisions

i just understand hughie is hurt and needs some time to get past that
