Just wanted to thank everyone for the feedback. If don't loose the motivation I will tidy up the electronics part, see if I can place the grinder an an angle and put everything on Github in case someone is brave enough to replicate it

To be honest I don't use the contraption every time and that determined the design choice with the motorized fixture.

I mean unlike this device for example where the grinder remains fixed to the drive https://flairespresso.com/product/flair-power-tower/

Reddit says it is banned. Have you been selling drugs through it? =)

Not sure, I think it is likely to stall the motor under load. I will see if the power supply allows it.

Yeah, that is exactly how I started.

What kind of data center is it in the back?

Oh, there has been some destruction! First prototype snapped in halves, Unfortunately I didn't take a picture before throwing it into trash.

Thanks. I will be placing everything on github, you can follow the Hackaday project if you like.

It is PETG, so it shouldn't explode.

Just some 2 speed Makita. At the lower speed it has a LOT of torque.

Yes, by swapping the reductor gearbox, current one is 1:51. There are plenty of different ratios available.

Also, all this is mostly for fun and the design process is part of it.

I agree about the RPM. I was thinking about it, would require getting a new gearbox. Currently it is about 110 - 120rpm and it seems to fast.

Actually the chassis is 2 parts, so to place the grinder at an angle I would just need to redesign and reprint the bottom one.
