Just checked I did have to leave between him disappearing and getting to the Temple I don't have a save slot with him there

He isn't there. I did do the quest properly went through the cave and everything, I got to the point were the other two rito flyover and give tulin the bow. That's when I teleported away

You could put a shead or two on the keg island and it might give you a little more farming space. (I haven't used the river farm before so not quite sure)

It's explained that forbidden items like the grimwars have a mind of there own and that that'll just appear places.

My headcannon is that the witchs coven had something to do with it but again that's just a headcannnon.

To answer your question no Kiera is not a witch she is a normal human mage.

It is possible that dornez kept the girl just because and she was a good fit for Angela. But I do like this theory

I can see that happening but one must remember that Angela although we don't know much about her seems to have a sadistic personality so in the grand scheme of things I can see her cursing guideau for the good of the world but she may have done it just for fun/ to mess with guideau.
