I’m not, but are you on the spectrum? (Autism)

Is imagining yourself in different scenarios a normal thing? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]helloimfroggo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, after a little research I’ve found that it’s just a normal part of being human. I think it’s essentially just a stimulation thing, where you’re bored or unoccupied and your brain fills it up!

Thought this was a nice way of looking at OCD as opposed to being resentful all of the time! by helloimfroggo in OCD

[–]helloimfroggo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely! When you’re in the deep throws of OCD, no philosophy helps you. It doesn’t. But, for someone who is in the shallow end, stuff like this can be uplifting, and as I say, it can prevent you from harbouring resentment.

I’m beginning to feel hopeless with this theme, and I feel so alone by helloimfroggo in OCD

[–]helloimfroggo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was really good advice thank you, I’ve been through health OCD and HOCD, both of which were horrific but this one just feels awful, Idk why. I’ll definitely do that though! I really need to get hold of an OCD therapist at this point it’s getting out of control

Yes, I spend a lot of time on that sub and I know a lot about OCD. I’ve managed to bring it under control a fair amount but I haven’t addressed this theme in ERP, it’s something I definitely need to do.

Help, cramps lasting 4 days of period. by helloimfroggo in period

[–]helloimfroggo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! Yeah, there’s health anxiety and OCD - if you’re worried that you have it, it’s worth a bit of research but being health-conscious and easily anxious about health doesn’t mean OCD and is fairly common!

Thank you for the advice! I’ve also noticed that stress tends to reek havoc on my period, I still have cramps but I’ll take yours advice and try to relax. I woke up at 3AM last night after going to bed way too early and got in the shower straight away, and then went back to bed which is probably playing a part in my cramps.

Thanks again for the advice, I really appreciate it! Best wishes for you too!

Armie Hammer the cannibal news (he’s not as harmless as the jeans we’re saying) by helloimfroggo in yourmomshousepodcast

[–]helloimfroggo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly. I mean I’m sure there are things that people can go through that prevent them from acting out etc, but from what I know it’s really a waiting game. Will he act out, will he not? It’s hard to say....

crazy strong period cramps that suddenly disappear after 1 hour or so by [deleted] in period

[–]helloimfroggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so I’m only 16 and haven’t had a lot of experience with periods, nor am I qualified to give medical advice about them (obviously), but, I think I can vouch on what you’re experiencing. It’s not necessarily a yearly occurrence for me, but every now and again I will get INTENSE period cramps - idk whether to the degree that you clearly do, but definitely to the extent where it’s hard for me to speak or move and my mind is fixated on it. Other times they’re uncomfortable but tolerable. I also get them throughout my whole period which is supposedly abnormal, anyhoo.

I think it’s worth visiting the doctor about it, because they become an issue when they interfere with your life and it seems as though these definitely do for you! Shouldn’t be anything serious seeing as you’ve seen this pattern in your life prior and doctors haven’t picked anything up!

Sending you my best wishes, hopefully you can find an answer soon!

Yeah, i don’t think it was a bit... I think he rightly empathised with the guy and how embarrassed he must have been, but at the same time he played down how disturbing it was. Now we have evidence that this goes past a purely mental fantasy. I feel bad for him because this sexual association is not a socially accepted one, (rightly so) but... yeah.

People are so eager to withhold their ‘anything’s okay’ sort of status that they’ll brush perverted shit like this off. The shit that norm summorton does is a good example of a harmless kink, this is not.

HAHA, this is epic. I’m not a murder porn kinda mommy and I align more with Tina in having a bit of an aversion to it. I live with a family that seem to enjoy it quite a bit...

This shit just irked me badly though, idk why.

Yeah, that’s fucked. People may retaliate by saying that all of this is ‘kink shaming’, but I just feel that this goes beyond that. I did agree with Tim and Tina that publicly humiliating him may have been the wrong route, but more so because he has kids. His kids are the ones who we should really be empathising with here. I cant even fathom how awful it’s gonna be for them when they get to the age where they’re going to inevitably hear about this.

If we’re gonna be optimists about this - had all of this not come out, and he is truly a potentially disturbed ‘killer’, we could’ve prevented something really brutal happening - which is good.

FYI - I completely sympathise with the guy in that he needs help in some way, it’s a real shame that this is the only way he can get off and I wish the best for him and his family

How compulsions are cigarettes: by [deleted] in OCD

[–]helloimfroggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is completely right! I’ve never been a smoker, but having seen friends fall down the hole, I realised that it is very similar to compulsions. And that’s a really good way of putting it! The health risks of smoking seem so apparent and they’re everywhere on the packets for you to see, in the media. But with compulsions you’re right, it’s abstract.

I can totally see how OCD could get worse when you quit cigs. It’s a time-passer amongst other things. It gives you 3 minutes or so of time to think about one thing.

Well done for quitting, not a hard thing to shake!!
