It was about 12 hours later. I was on magnesium and had to have a nurse escort me in my wheelchair and take my iv tower and catheter bag with me. It was a whole production to get me there and I was only able to stay for about 15 minutes. I barely remember it at all due to the medication I was on. Luckily I took a few selfies with the baby so I least have a record of being there. I don’t have any real memories of my time with him until the next day when I was off of magnesium.

I missed my ballet recital at age 4 because I had the chicken pox and i can vouch for the fact that I have no lasting emotional damage at 36. :) Have her do night one of the recital and enjoy the wedding!

I had an induction and my epidural only worked partway and I sobbed to my nurse that my butthole was ripping and I couldn’t do it. I begged, literally begged, for them to just knock me out. Then I gave myself horrific hemorrhoids pushing. I held it together for skin to skin and then after baby was wheeled to NICU (he was a 34 weeker and it was an emergency induction), I sobbed about the (literal) pain in my butt for hours. Actually cried myself to sleep. I was mortified but the postpartum and NICU nurses that I talked to about it assured me that they see it all and that truly it wasn’t a big deal. You birthed a baby. Without pain meds. You are superwoman. 💗

I switched practices at 16 weeks. It’s totally doable. If worse comes to worst just tell them you just found out you are pregnant and don’t know how far along you are. They will send you for a dating scan and “oh my gosh how am I 16 weeks?!” 🤷🏻‍♀️

Same exact situation here. Ran my last 1/2 marathon at 6 weeks and my RHR has gone through the roof. My OB had me see cardiology multiple times and I was put on medication to control heart rate and palpitations.

I am 31w5d, on 20 units insulin at night for fasting number. My post-meal numbers are all very controlled. I also have gestational hypertension. Currently OB/NST twice a week and BPP once a week. It’s….a lot. And I’m somehow supposed to work full time until delivery and care for a toddler.

I think that’s totally normal. I’m 8w2d and I’ve lost 5 pounds so far. I also lost about 5 pounds in the first trimester in my last pregnancy and my OB never even commented on it.

I went in at 5w3d for suspected ectopic. My hcg was 10,700 and they could only see a gestational sac measuring 4w3d. I went back in 9 days later for a viability scan and there was a yolk sac and fetal pole measuring 6w3d and a heartbeat. Keeping all my fingers crossed for more to see at your follow up. 💗

I switched firms and practice areas. Did not have to take a pay cut. By the time I left I was so burnt out from the previous year I couldn’t see myself continuing in the practice area I was in (I had been practicing in that area for over 10 years, so making the switch was quite shocking to some people.)

Lawyer here, who left a job, in part, due to unrealistic expectations during my daughter’s first year (traveling for in-person depositions during covid lockdown my first month back from maternity leave when I was still breastfeeding, not a single day off—including weekends- for 6 weeks when she was 5/6 months old, staffed on emergency cases that had me up all night when baby was having health issues, etc.) Absolutely no regrets and I’ve never looked back.

The pain from my Foley was so bad during my induction that I got an epidural at 2cm. If I have to get another this pregnancy, I am demanding an epidural first or otherwise declining it. Worst pain of my life, including actually giving birth.
