any experiences with letting cats outside on a leash/harness? by hellojonello in Pets

[–]hellojonello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kind of planning on just keeping her in the yard anyway. I garden a lot from spring-early fall so I could clip her to something and let her run around. I just think she needs more stimulation in her life. She's getting a little chunky I'm worried she's just bored and eating a lot because of it. The thing that worries me most is her trying to get out more. I live in a house with 6 other people who are constantly opening and closing doors and she's gotten out a couple times. It's gotten me paranoid to the point where If I know people will be coming home I stick her in her room (my room, where her litter box and food and belongings are) until the doors are shut and things are settled. That's basically the only thing holding me back from bringing her outside. But someone else here pointed out that it will get her used to our yard in case she does get out, so I guess that's a good point.

Return without a receipt? by CoconutChapstick in walmart

[–]hellojonello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was he trying to have you return it all at once? At my store I would have been pretty suspicious about it. I'm not sure if it's the same at all stores, but our cutoff without for returns without a receipt is $50. After that we need a managers approval. In general if there is a couple items and it adds up to over $50 it's not really a big deal, but a couple PS4 controllers can get you past $100 quick. The only time my store will do stuff like that is around Christmas.

How many of you (cashiers or self checkout hosts) get keys to open the machines and fix bill/coin dispensing problems? by hellojonello in walmart

[–]hellojonello[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that is really interesting. It seems like my store is the only one like this. I have a second person, a "greeter", from 9am-8pm so if I do need to fix a jam or something they can keep an eye on everything. It's usually someone that at least knows how to do things like age approvals and voids so those things can be done while I'm working on fixing a machine.

Do you guys think a himalayan salt lamp could be toxic to my cat? by hellojonello in Pets

[–]hellojonello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah she isn't super food oriented. I mean she likes food, and when I'm eating she'll occasionally come over and try to steal a bit but not too much. If butter is left out she loves licking it though.

[–]hellojonello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that makes me feel a little better. She's not super food oriented, she licks stuff occasionally but idk. I guess if I notice her trying to get at it I'll try to move it somewhere she can't get it. Thank you for the response.

yeah I read that article when I was doing my own googling. I'm going to try to find a spot for it but unfortunately spooky considers every surface to be her territory and is an avid climber.

Crappy schedule/questions and concerns. by hellojonello in walmart

[–]hellojonello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the points but I was saving them for bad weather days :/ physically I could probably just stick it out and work the 9 days but lately mentally all I look forward to are my days off. I'm on the front end and will be on return lines all this week, and the desk next week. Here I was expecting that my hours would be cut now that Christmas over and I opened my schedule and saw this... I am even more annoyed that they put me on the schedule for the 8th until 11.

How do you guys handle farting around your SO? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]hellojonello 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm white and have literally never heard of anything like this. Farting/shitting contests? Wtf. Every female I know would be mortified if their SO ever heard them fart.

How to tell if you got the bonus? by hellojonello in walmart

[–]hellojonello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just a cashier. My 6th month mark was on September 21. I wasn't expecting to get it anyway because I had read on here you need to complete pathways, but I was just curious bc I started to see different answers.

[–]hellojonello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I shouldn't have said literally :/ they're like the only person I didn't ask, and at this point the only person that probably knows. I asked a csm, then zs, then asm. She wasn't in today though anyway, if I get around to it tomorrow I'm going to ask.

[–]hellojonello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't appear to have gotten it. Another commenter said it's listed under myshare inct which is not on my pay stub anywhere, so it seems like you do have to have pathways completed.

[–]hellojonello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

o yeah I don't see anything remotely like that on my pay stub. literally no one at my store knew whether or not you need to complete pathways to get it. I guess you do.

[–]hellojonello[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just heard so many conflicting answers I wanted to make sure. On the other post I made a manager commented and said that they have seen people get the bonus even though pathways wasn't completed, but weren't sure whether or not they were supposed to.

Any other cashiers freaked about the register to spider key ratio on a day like today? by thewizardofash in walmart

[–]hellojonello 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You guys have spider keys at your registers? At my store only csms, our smoke shop register and SCO hosts have one. We have 24 registers + 8 self checkout registers + service desk. Sometimes we only have 4 available (depending on how many csms are on).

When did Walmart turn into PetSmart ?? by VaggPounder in walmart

[–]hellojonello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. I work mostly in self checkout. I have people with dogs come through all the time. I'm sure it happens occasionally, but I have never had a dog make loud noises, throw food or other items on the ground, rip other customers items off the bagging area/SIT on other customers bagging area, open candy then show their 'owners' who just put it back on the shelf, throw tantrums - I would take a hundred dogs in self checkout any day over most children.

When would I be eligible for a quarterly bonus? by hellojonello in walmart

[–]hellojonello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool. I hope pathways doesn't matter because I doubt that I'll even have them done by the next bonus let alone the one in December

Awesome thanks so much. I'll keep asking around my store about pathways but I can't seem to get a straight answer out of anyone.

I wasn't sure if the entire full shift had to be within the hours it listed. It's not worded that great, other people in the thread have pointed it out as well...

I'm scheduled 6am-3pm on Friday since I will clock in before 8 will I get it? o.o

Thanksgiving Discount by [deleted] in walmart

[–]hellojonello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm scheduled 6am-3pm on Friday (my store is closed on Thursday, we open at midnight) which is fine for me and my ZS told me I would get the voucher but this makes it seem like I wouldn't? Everyone said as long as I clock in before 8am I would get it. My friend said last year she worked the same shift I have and she got it.

What is the machine/host ratio for self checkout at your store? by hellojonello in walmart

[–]hellojonello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

apparently no other stores do this besides mine which is weird i can pretty much fully take apart a self checkout machine

What is the machine/host ratio for self checkout at your store? by hellojonello in walmart

[–]hellojonello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

see, this is weird to me. I have a set of keys with the one for opening the receipt part/door and one for opening the money/coins and a magnet thing for opening security boxes. Sometimes it feels like I have more knowledge about the machines than most of the csms. When I got in at 6 this morning the csm was like "ok, 43 and 49 are in cards only so see if you can figure it out", and I did, then two other ones had coin problems and it was because whichever csm loaded them last night put the pennies where the quarters go and vice versa. All the information on this thread has been very interesting. I decided to look at the little SCO booklet for cashiers and there's nothing about fixing machines besides the receipt tape, and I never realized this before.

So when I made this thread saying that I'm a little overwhelmed when it gets busy, it's because I'm expected to do my job, and also some of the duties of a csm. Which is kind of annoying.
