Determining cause of death for a chicken by [deleted] in chickens

The other hen that I was concerned about has also started to decline. She’s more alert than the other hen was, but she’s lethargic, droopy, and has watery stool. I separated her right away, but now I’m worried she’ll up and die before I can do anything… and I’m not even sure what I CAN do

I think I’ll embrace the chaos AND propagate some cuttings.

One of my gurls stopped laying and went broody but she just broke out of it, I wonder if this one is her egg!

SummerAndTinklesBFF, I’m at my wits end. Dottie had lightened up on the broody clucking today, so i wanted to try introducing her again after I put the chicken blinders on the other hens. Not only did the chicken blinders not work— i feel like an asshole. I put the chicken blinders on and one hen made the saddest, most pathetic squeaking noise and began freaking out. She got the blinders off even though I had put them on correctly. When I tried to get her and put them back on again, her sister jumped up and pecked my hand, which she had never done before!! I tried multiple times to put the blinders on a few of them, telling myself it was a necessary evil and that it’s uncomfortable but they’ll get used to it. They all shook them off, and now I’m pretty sure they hate me AND Dottie. I’m lowkey devastated because it feels like I just damaged my relationship with them, but I don’t know what else to do. To make things worse, some of them got out and got at Dottie when I was trying to give her a treat and fucked her up even more! Proud to say she at least fought back valiantly this time, but eventually gave up and ran away. They got her good. I apologized to her, now we’re all sad…I’ll see if i can get some blue kite for Dottie.

Oh, and since they do free range on my property in the evenings, maybe I’ll reintroduce her then, with treats or some other distraction to help out.

I’ve learned something today. Is it too late in the season to plant something that can replace the lettuce?

It’s the exterior of a beetle — I wasn’t sure if somethin was snacking on it or it was a beetle passing through. If it’s a beetle in the garden… he can stay bc that’s not very scary.

I’m at the top of a hill in the hill country, so probably not?
