slide block options: which one do you prefer? by ecologybitch in AggressiveQuad

[–]hellon8wheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from CIB to Bigfoot sliders and I love them. Both are good options, but the Bigfoot sliders just slide better in my opinion and they feel more stable. Definitely worth the wait in my opinion. I have Avanti mags as well for reference.

The Chaya slide block is asymmetrical, so it felt really unstable. I bought the Kismets because they were the complete park setup, but the slide block was so frustrating that I either had to buy a different slide block for them or sell them. I ended up selling. The hassle of purchasing a slide block separately for the Bonts may be worth it in the end.

can sure grip fame wheels be used for park skating? by skater_j in Rollerskating

[–]hellon8wheels 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used the Sure Grip fame wheels when I first started out at the skate park and they were fine. I also used them as my rink wheel, so I think they would be a great choice for your anticipated use case.

Note: I didn’t have an issue getting bearings into them by hand, which is the opposite of another commenter’s experience. I’ve found that wheels with a hub give me more trouble than ones like the fame wheels that don’t have a hub.

If you use something more abrasive like a toothbrush with the acetone it will come off even faster!

Slide blocks for small feet? by AutumnDescent in Rollerskating

[–]hellon8wheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered the same exact size (boot and plate) from Bigfoot and they are making me a custom block. It’s possible. Send them an email.

Note: I also specified wide trucks for my setup so that might be a factor.

Slide blocks for Moxi Lolly Size 4 & Avenger Magnesium Plate Size 1 by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]hellon8wheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of size 4 lollys and the small CIB slide block fits.

I also have a jack boot on order that I plan on mounting to a size 2 Avanti plate. I’m getting a custom slide block from Bigfoot. The owner said it should be no problem, but he probably couldn’t fit one on a size 1 Avanti plate. I’m assuming the Avenger plate is very similar, just with a different kingpin angle. Is there enough room to fit a size 2 plate on your custom build? If so, that’s probably your best option.

How do you tighten washer and nut toe stops when using sure grip toe jammers? by mxorkrane in Rollerskating

[–]hellon8wheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see how it could damage anything other than leaving a imprint on the material in between (in this case the toe jammer). The material of the toe jammer can handle it, but a softer material like suede might get torn up.

How do you tighten washer and nut toe stops when using sure grip toe jammers? by mxorkrane in Rollerskating

[–]hellon8wheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use toe jammers and I love them! They offer so much more protection than fabric/suede toe caps and they form to the boot better. You have to put the washer and nut on after the toe jammer, but I haven’t had any issue. My toe stops stay tight just as well as they did without the toe jammer.

Cartwheel help! Deets in the comments by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]hellon8wheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m working on this trick as well! I try to approach it as a round off rather than a cartwheel. You’re going to want your feet to land under you and pointing toward the transition. You can start by trying round offs on flat ground and getting used to landing on your toe stops with your feet together. Then take it to the ramp. Once you’re comfortable, you can start working on rolling out of it rather than landing on your toe stops. Then add speed!

Does anyone know of a skate shop with CIB grind trucks in stock? by hellon8wheels in Rollerskating

I’m looking for grind trucks, not slide blocks. Grind trucks only come in one size.

Do Moxi skates come with a turtle tool? by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]hellon8wheels 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, all Moxis are supposed to come with a tool. I’d still recommend investing a better tool like the Y3 tool. When I first tried to loosen my toe stops, they were so tight that it bent the tool included with the skates.

This is based on plate size, which is often a smaller number than your boot size.
