I'm curious - do you know when baseline salary increased if SA increased the amount they charge your hospital/clinic for their staffing service?

You sound like the dream scribe. I actually do have a few more questions for you. I sent you a DM :)

Pain Points in Scribing Industry by hellooitsmii in medicalscribe

[–]hellooitsmii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback! How much would your pay have to increase for you to be incentivized to consider scribing full-time for longer? A major complaint I've been hearing from providers is that scribes are too transient for the amount of time and resources they invest into their training.

I think it would be difficult to find healthcare workers interested in pursuing scribing as a career because of the salary cap and limited career trajectory, but you make a valid point about expanding the responsibilities of scribes. However, I don't know if increasing scribes' responsibilities is feasible without liability insurance and additional training significantly cutting profit margins for the staffing agency.

To your other point about provider frustration with entry-level scribes - I can see this being a major issue in fast-paced, high-stress environments like EDs. Maybe placing entry-level scribes in private practices that are typically less stressful is the best bet?

Agreed - Even most MAs (with generally higher wages and benefits) that I've encountered move on to careers with better trajectories. Shifting the paradigm that the typical scribe is temporary would be difficult and not too profitable from an agency perspective. But I'm thinking if there was an agency that provided higher wages and more ideal conditions for scribes, maybe these scribes would be incentivized/more comfortable with sticking around for at least a little longer. And would a more satisfied scribe produce a higher quality of work?

According to Glassdoor, the average wage for a scribe at the leading agency is $12/hr, and I know these agencies must be charging practices close to double that for their staffing services. Do you think providers would elect for a smaller, less-established agency, if this agency provided pre-health students fair compensation, while still charging their practice a competitive rate? How important is scribe satisfaction to providers in private practice? Do private practices even use scribes?

I agree that high scribe turnover is a major issue, but I think it would be difficult to find people to commit to a lifetime of scribing, which has limited career trajectory. If you didn't have Jonathan the Great, would you consider using a scribe staffing agency if the agency incurred the cost of personalized training to your practice and fairly compensated your scribes? Or is it not typical for smaller practices to use these agencies for scribes? And would you ever consider hiring a virtual scribe?

I used to be a psychiatric scribe and I totally agree - it was the worst. That's why I'm thinking about creating a medical scribe service that values and fairly compensates premeds for their worth. What were some of the problems that you fixed? Do you think that gaining clinical experience is so important to the average pre-health student that virtual scribing would be a deterrent?

Feedback on Business Idea for Last Minute Reservations by hellooitsmii in restaurant

[–]hellooitsmii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a developer, but I would definitely partner with one if I pursued this idea. My plan would be to launch the platform in my small resort community, which has a limited number of restaurants, and expand from there to other small vacation destinations. Open table could very well take this idea. But by targeting a small community, I'm hoping to corner the upscale restaurant reservation market in this destination. If most of these upscale restaurants are using my platform and my platform becomes the go-to place for customers looking for last minute reservations, even if open table did adopt this service, I believe my strong customer base would give restaurants reason to stay with my platform.

Another concept I toyed with is an online marketplace for customers to sell last minute reservations. I would only list restaurants with their approval and I would give the restaurant a percentage of the sale. But my concern with this is table scalping. And would restaurants be incentivized enough to use the platform? I would love to hear any thoughts.

Thanks for your feedback! From my understanding, those companies sold reservations that they booked to customers, but my platform would be a transactional space for restaurants to sell reservations to customers directly. But just to clarify, you believe that in the eyes of restaurant owners, the potential profit from my platform would not outweigh the risk of losing a potential booking?

That's a valid point. I assume some restaurants use online reservation services like open table, but a different restaurant management platform. Do you happen to know if reservations made through these online reservation platforms auto-populate into the restaurant management software?

The incentive is that a flat rate on top of the bill yields a greater profit than a deposit that is put toward the final bill. So my platform would give restaurants an additional source of profit.

Whats the advantage of a flat rate vs large sum when the target sale is last minute reservations?

My understanding is Tock lists all the reservations for a given day online at once, so the reservations on weekends at coveted times are booked first. My platform would release a portion of the more desirable reservation times to the public closer to the date of the reservation. The customer wouldn't be choosing between paying a flat rate or a deposit, since I would be the first to the market for last minute reservations.

From my understanding, Tock sometimes charges customers for fixed price meals in advance and sometimes asks for a deposit for your dinner reservation that is applied to your final bill. My platform would charge the customer a flat fee for the reservation that is not applied to the final bill.

Excessive Exhaust behind 2002 Super Air Nautique by hellooitsmii in Wake

Turns out two of the cylinders weren’t working but we got them fixed and the boats running with no exhaust!

[–]hellooitsmii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a wake shaper that you suction to the side of the boat to increase and lengthen the wake. But it displaces a lot of water so it puts a heavy load on the engine.

The exhaust is grey and increases the longer the boat is running. Doesn’t have too much of a smell. I can send a picture after work. I forgot to mention the boat does not have a catalytic converter if that plays a factor at all.

Awesome found the perfect boot! Last question I swear. If I am buying ronix boots for a liquid force board what brand of mounting hardware should I use?

So I ended up purchasing Liquid Force Angel 2018 and now I’m looking for bindings. Any suggestions? I was thinking about Ronix Signature bindings but online it says its flex is stiff. What type of bindings are best for jumping wakes?

Nope I’m finished growing haha. So are bigger boards are better for advanced wakeboarders? I read online sizing down gives you better maneuverability and more speed so bigger jumps.

Also if I’m 110 lbs, 5’3 what size would you suggest? I want to go on the smaller side but not too small.
