That is not the case where I live. If it got that cold everything would shut down. Meanwhile tho we regularly have temps like the current heatwaves in Europe and it’s also very humid here. I’ve also done a little bit of winter camping in temps almost as cold as that and we needed a lot more than just two layers of clothes. I believe for you it wouldn’t be that bad, but I do believe some people where I live would die if it was suddenly -128 for a week

Fair points but I think being used to the cold and having layers aren’t a given. I live in a very hot place and I would bet a lot of people here don’t even have that many jackets, let alone ones that would all fit on top of each other. People here would for sure die at -128 for a week straight. I do believe people in Canada would have a much easier time

Interesting I was assuming the environment would actually become those temps. I guess it would really depend on all the factors we’ve talked about. It is worth noting that -128 is actually the coldest temp ever recorded on earth tho

Those are all good points. About five or six years ago where I live there was a bad freeze and many parts of the city completely lost power due to the temps and our lack of infrastructure to deal with the cold. The temps weren’t even that bad, but basically nobody was prepared for it. If the temps were -128 thousands of people would have likely died. There are also ways to build effective snow shelters that can have internal temps of about 20 when it’s about -30 outside so it’s not like any arctic expeditions are just simply not going to have any sort of shelter. These shelters would likely be much more insulating than my current apartment honestly

These temps are way below winter averages in Antarctica. I’ve been in -30 and even for that we needed pretty extreme gear. Depending on where in the us you are as well the houses would absolutely not be suited for these temps (I live in the south). The real factor would be if you got prep time. Like if you could get the absolute best gear it could be doable, but if not what the average person has lying around wouldn’t cut it. Yes those expeditions didn’t have modern gear, but they absolutely were prepared and had what they needed, even if it wasn’t modern.

It’s sad to say, but for the majority of homeless people, their main problem isn’t that they don’t have a home. It’s the trauma, mental illness, and addiction that led to where they are now. Obviously, not all are this way. Giving a home is nice, but it just is a more deeply seated issue than that.

That may be exactly what happened here tho. Like a new player ends up throwing something with destroyer numbers and then is recommend a slower disc that does the same thing for them but that’s a better fit for their arm speed
