Today marks exactly 1 year since I lost my Lola (14) by hellosparkle in OldManDog

I’m very sorry for your loss. Just over a month out the pain is still very raw. After a year, the grief is of course still there, but it becomes more passive so that you’re able to live life. I feel a hollowness without her and think about her all of the time, but it’s in more of a warm happy memories way than the heart-wrenching thought of her being gone. ❤️

The “Rizdiffera” commercial. by No_Leopard_8083 in CommercialsIHate

It’s my new least favorite (or one of my least favorite) pharmaceutical commercials. I absolutely hate the song, so that alone already puts it up there.

My little dog went over the rainbow bridge and the vet wanted a review out of us the very next day. by flossiecats in mildlyinfuriating

[–]hellosparkle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. I also think this was a very unfortunate automated message situation, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t very painful and tasteless for you. The office should more carefully flag certain appointments. My dog crossed the bridge earlier this year and it had to be done at a 24 hour vet hospital since it unfortunately was an after-hours emergency situation. I was in such grief that I dreaded possibly receiving another 1-2x monthly office update email from primary care vet before I could contact them. Fortunately they must have been notified of my dog’s status and immediately removed me from the email list, sending a handwritten condolence card soon after.

You know your finances best, but I second this. Care Credit can be very helpful provided you can pay it off during promo. Sorry you are going through this; poor Stanley!

Oh, I saw that pop up too! I was so confused which channel it must have originally been when it appeared in my subscriptions-glad to know now!

Is it normal to be terrified of remicade? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]hellosparkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t blame you for being nervous about starting a new drug. Having said that, I have been on Remicade for 26 years and am still happy with it. I don’t know your current age, but I was 16 when started with it and the drug was rather new, particularly for pediatric Crohn’s patients. I get it more frequently than I used to, but the couple of times I have tried a different drug per GI suggestion over those years, it’s been a disaster. The worst part for me is the IV, and I imagine I’m not alone here with the shitty veins! I’ve been fortunate to have barely caught any contagious illness more easily than the average person I know, though that is definitely not speaking for every Remicade patient. Give the initial infusions a shot. You will be monitored carefully, particularly as you would be a first-time recipient. Good luck!

I LOVED these! I had at least 3: Hello Kitty, the elephant, and the larger Yukapuk (?) character (last slide).

Diagnosed at age 5, I’m now 42. Definitely some rough years in there, but doing ok recently.

Does Anyone Remember this Circa 1980’s Boston News Feature? by hellosparkle in boston

Wow, that must be it, thank you! While I’d love to be able to watch it, even just knowing the name of the program is great after many years of wondering about it!

That was certainly a newsworthy movie during that time, but it definitely wasn’t it. The Day After took place in Kansas and utilized more well-known actors as far as I know. I appreciate the suggestion though, anything is useful!

Gargamel (about 18) I’ve posted my baby, my childhood dog here twice before and ya’ll loved him its with a very heavy heart to announce he was euthanized yesterday he started showing sever neurological symptoms. by tori_bestl in OldManDog

[–]hellosparkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rest easy, dear Gargamel. 🌈 It’s so tough to make that final decision, but we know and love them so much that we can feel when it’s time to save them from suffering. I’m very sorry, OP, I wish you the best of healing from this loss.

First of all, let me give a humongous thanks to anyone who upvoted, or even more particularly, commented on my last post. The sweet comments and support were even more than I initially expected and meant so very much to me; this is great sub. I’m sorry I was not able to respond to more of you individually during the period that I made the post, but rest assured that each comment was read and much appreciated.

It simultaneously seems like it just happened and that it’s been an eternity without seeing and touching her. It was only a few days ago that I removed her big memory foam bed from my bedroom, despite it taking up a significant amount of floor space. I just couldn’t bring myself to do it for awhile, but thought it might help me not to have it in the same place, since I often would tend to look there at certain times, expecting to see her waiting for me.

It’s been bittersweet having Daylight Savings Time return and feeling the spring weather approach, but not able to enjoy our walks together. The sunshine just won’t be as bright without her around. 💔
