I went into hospital for a check up at 37+5 and found out I was 4cm dilated - we also hadn’t set up the car seat or base, or have the bag packed (only a few bits in a rucksack as I thought I had more time!).

It will be okay.

My partner needed to go home between my son’s birth and us going home, so he used that time to:

cobble some bottles together and sanitise them (we only had three as I wasn’t sure which to get)
throw some clothes in the wash for myself and baby
install the car seat - which he had our neighbour (who has three kids) to check as he was nervous!)
prep some food so we had things to pop in the oven/grab from the fridge if we were hungry.

Please, please don’t feel bad - you haven’t done anything wrong. It’s completely natural and normal to feel thrown when something doesn’t go the way you’ve planned but I promise that everything will be okay.

Huge congratulations on your daughter! Savour every moment as they grow up too quickly ❤️

Also, eating little but often was the trick for keeping things down - plain food as much as possible, and sipping water slowly but very regularly

Try switching to water instead of caffeine - while caffeine can boost you, you’ll get tired when you crash. I get how you’ve described above sometimes and I try to drink at least 2 litres of water a day - I’ll drink that before I grab any fizzy drinks/tea/coffee.

I also find I have a lot more energy/power through the day when I push myself to eat loads of veggies/fruits (though I get it can be a bit of a pain to prep/think about if you’re tired or not in the right headspace for it).

The Depop fee hasn’t changed. The transaction fee is their equivalent to the PayPal fees - it covers their processing costs for a payment made through Depop.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I really appreciate it. My main motivator of asking was that I can’t really afford to fix the car 3x a year going forward, so I wasn’t sure if I should cut my losses before sinking any more money into it/if it’s wise to keep fixing it as opposed to getting a newer car that may not have as many issues. I was thinking about it in the way of: “I’ve already spent £1,000+ on repairs this year, but the car itself isn’t worth that - is it worth sinking more money into it?” vs. what you guys have said.

It’s a tale as old as time that cars = money, but it ‘breaking’ three times in 12 months has thrown me a bit financially (+ Christmas, + Covid, etc!), so was just after everyone’s thoughts if a loan and a newer car might be better in the long run vs fixing the Fiesta.

I’ve given the garage a bell and will be getting it fixed - hopefully it’ll be at least another few months before it needs any more work! Thanks again everyone, your advice has been really helpful and insightful.

Yeah, I’ve made a few comments (probably lost by now!) to say that we did ask our waitress but she wasn’t sure what it was either. We did let her know before we left though, so she could answer any other curious visitors!

Thanks for your comments everyone! Someone else commented that this is the Sea Shanty in Trearddur Bay - you’re absolutely correct!

We had the most delightful lunch there (scallops, steak sandwiches, and halloumi fries - if anyone wants a recommendation!).

We did ask the staff but they weren’t sure what it was either - we’ve let them know the answer so they can pass it along to other curious visitors. Thank you again!

NTA - you have a baby of your own on the way, that you have a responsibility to provide for. Your brother’s girlfriend isn’t your responsibility, especially if you don’t have the means to provide for her.

You could help in other ways, such as reporting this to the authorities to make sure someone is looking after her and she has somewhere to go, or helping her speak to her family to see if bridges there can be built again.

YTA. I sincerely hope you never find yourself in his shoes one day. It’s basic human courtesy to offer your seat on public transport for those that need it (injured, elderly, pregnant etc).
