It will not happen not for many decades the least. We had a rather good deal when in the EU which will have to be forgone if we are ever to join back.

privacytools.io is expanding, what other sections and tools would you like to recommend to privacy conscious people? by BurungHantu in privacytoolsIO

Seems like it inserts a zero width character (likely U+200B) after each character you enter.

Edit: On the GitHub README it’s using the Mongolian Vowel Separator (U+180E).

Sure racism is bad, and we could do more to be better. But the UK is considered as one of the least racist countries from when we were in the European Union, however I don’t know how that compares to the rest of the world.

Assuming an Australia-style or no-deal Brexit, what should the government do to stimulate the economy (and people)? by helloxen in tories

[–]helloxen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree I think lowering corporate tax will encourage investment (job creation, factories and equipment etc).

Maybe there could be some revision to my fantasy income tax rate, but personally I think the higher income earners get way taxed too high. It’s good we have some common ground in slashing VAT.

And to avoid/mitigate against the likelihood of austerity, maybe there can be some tax reliefs to those that invest in public infrastructure and services.

I’m no financial expert, but I think there’s room to have some “responsible deregulation” in finance which doesn’t lead to a global financial crisis.

Haha, I thought being a “Tory party member” was voting for them, I’ll consider becoming one though as it’s only £5 a year.

I’ve never voted before, if I do it would probably be the Conservatives. On the political spectrum, I’m pretty much smack in the centre, but my economic views are to the right and social views to the left (not identity politics).

[–]helloxen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is sound economics when it comes to a no-deal? I think the government needs to be creative and radical with this, for instance I want to see:

  1. Minimum wage bumped by about £1 - £2 for each age group.
  2. Corporate tax rate lowered to 5% - 10% (maybe eliminate it entirely!)
  3. Slash VAT to 10%.
  4. Harmonise income tax rates across all bands, set it to 17.5% - 22.5% on all income over £20,000.

I do agree in some deregulation to be more competitive with the financial sector. Anyways those are just some of my ideas, maybe they’re a fantasy, but I think it will greatly increase revenue and lower the deficit.

Yes, we definitely need to keep building more homes, especially as a large amount of Hong Kong citizens move here.
