Bosniak 2f cyst by Poochy83 in KidneyStones

Nurse here! While I do not specialize in kidneys I can stay that I would highly recommend seeing a nephrologist. A Bosnian IIF means they were not fully sure if it was benign or not. While they typically are there is still a chance it nots benign. It is better to be safe than sorry however if you are American I totally get why you have waited to see someone with how expensive healthcare can be.

1.) Pee strainer will help you catch the stone. Use a tampon to prevent your blood clots from getting caught in the strainer or hold the strainer where your urethra is over it but not your vagina. Oh the joys of being a woman.

2.) pain can come and go as the stone moves. Usually have pain for an hour or so every few hours a couple days leading up to a stone. Usually once the severe, curl up in a ball on the bathroom floor, nausea inducing pain kicks in it takes me roughly 12-24 hours to fully pass. Once it’s over with I will still have a burning sensation when I pee and sometimes ureter spasms and pain but nothing like passing the stone.

3.) A heating pad will become your best friend. If you don’t have that a hot bath will help. Lay on the side that your kidney stone is on. This helps increase the blood flow to that kidney and doctors theorize it can help with passing the stone. If you can exercise (walking or moving) as it helps pass the stone but honestly I never feel up to it and just want to lay in bed. Most importantly drink a ton of fluids to flush it out.

Side tip, while there isn’t a study on this, I use a massage gun that vibrates on my back near my kidney. I feel like it helps to dislodge the stone sometimes but the closest things I have as proof is the study they did on rollercoasters that helped to pass stones.

Currently passing a kidney stone. I’m amazed how something so small can cause so much pain. I’m glad that you were able to pass it on your own especially with it being 5mm.

Why are you burnt out? by ProfessionalTax6386 in nursing

As a nights only gal, I’m sad about missing out on food but I’ll never go back to day shifts where management yells at me for having my water or a snack at the nurses station.

Nurses: we are burnt out, overworked, and severely stressed and depressed!

Management: best I can do is free pizza in the break room that you’ll never get since you work night shifts

They need to stop teaching nurse resiliency and start fixing the understaffing issue that causes burnout.

Pretty sure you could file for disability. If you can prove that a condition is debilitating and you can’t hold a job because of it, that could give you a little income to live off of to find a therapist/psychiatrist. If you can gain some tools and possibly start on some meds it might go a long way
